Topaz Studios

Topaz Studios Handcrafted items, from my home to yours. I work in many different styles and am always open to expanding my trade.

Many of the items in my shop are things that were previously made and given as gifts to friends and family, with a great reception. I hope you will enjoy them as much as they do! Some items on my page are works in progress or old pieces that I have not replicated for sale. If there is ever a piece that interests you and no price or link to purchase is listed, please don't hesitate to reach out and

ask me to make them. I am always happy to work with the customer and produce a piece that we can both be happy with.

Belated post! I managed to get out for a day and a half of it (the tragedy of it being the same weekend as Irish dance's biggest weekend of the year) and make it to 12 stores!

I made it out to some new stores from last year and picked up some great goodies, including an embroidery template, ceramic baked Brie bowl (yum yum), and pop tart stitch markers! And of course, a decent amount of yarn!

-Brie bowl from at (also their fun year 3 yarn crawl stitch marker!)
-This year's specially dyed yarn from
-The absolutely gorgeous 'Pottrait of Mabel in a sweater' special dye for
-Pink felt and adorable pop tart stitch markers (by ) at (a store I definitely need to get out to again!)
-Raccoon embroidery stencil by (one of my absolute local faves) and teal/multicolor yarns from for their hat pattern!
-And some gorgeous Manos del Uruguay yarn from

This post has been a long time coming! I originally made this dress in 2022 (😮) for a friend's wedding and never got a picture! A few years later, I'm wearing it again at another friend's wedding, and finally got some pics!

This is the Magnolia Dress by cut closer to tea-length, with a poly satin base layer and this gorgeous embroidered/sequined tulle on top. This was in all honesty a giant pain in the butt to do (pro tip: remove the sequins from the seams! I'm still pulling them out after the fact because ouch!), but also so worth it for how beautifully it came out!

Tried out natural dying for the first time! I purchased this scarf dying kit at Rhinebeck from and it was so straightforward, and fun! I think I'm adding yet another to my long list of fiber hobbies 😬

A project a long time coming: I finally finished the cross stitch of the Patio de las Doncellas the Real Alcázar in Sevilla, a kit I purchased on my honeymoon (in 2019! 😮). It's finally completed, washed, ironed, and framed, and can now hang as a reminder of our travels!

I got some sewing done over the holidays, including a new doggie jacket! I used Hans' Costco jacket (which is a perfect fit - hard to find for barrel-chested boys!) as a template to create a pattern, and instead of making it Velcro around the neck like most dog jackets, made the neck a closed circle as that is generally the weakest point in his jackets (and helps create a cozy fit). It's double-layered fleece, but can easily be made with a single layer for warmer temps.

I still need to add a buttonhole on the back for his harness, but it fits very well and has already gotten compliments on Hans' walks!

Revisiting an old denim jacket cross stitch project. Why? Because I'm listing it for sale!

This is the first time I used waste canvas and stocked on clothing, and I absolutely loved how this came out. It really transformed a denim jacket I bought in college and rarely wore into a daily wear!

Sadly, it's now much too small on me, but my loss could be your gain! The base coat is an Aeropostale denim jacket, size Medium, with some (but not major) signs of wear, besides the purposeful distressing that is part of the jacket's manufacturing design.

This jacket is available immediately; $100. It can be purchased via DM or my Square website (linked in bio).

Medieval tapestry meets denim!

I had to make my new denim jacket my own, and what better way to do so than with a design of my favorite medieval tapestry? I wanted to make sure it was finished in time for denim jacket weather, and I did so in perfect time for the upcoming week's cooling temps. This is my second time using this pattern, but the first time doing so in full - I loved seeing it really come to life. I'm definitely obsessed 😍

I recently popped up to Brooklyn for a friend's birthday and had some extra time, so I got a chance to stop by for the first time. Such a cute shop; I loved the variety of yarns and also love the cafe inside! I'm so sad this wasn't around when I lived in Brooklyn, but I'll definitely stop back in when I'm in the area!

I picked up this unbelievably soft eucalyptus yarn and beautiful matching mohair, plus a little yarn sweater to keep my cakes manageable! I've already started working with the yarns and look forward to finding a project that will enable me to buy more!

For the second time I've decided to make my own dress for this year's wedding season. Check out this year's dress!

I found this beautiful stretch viscose while browsing the death throes of Joann (RIP), and then furiously browsed at home for a nice wedding-appropriate pattern to go with the two yards of this I was able to find. I landed on Vogue V1802, using view A. I love the tie at the back (sadly I didn't have enough fabric to do the full length of the tie for this size, but I still think the tie looks good enough!), and best of all, it has pockets! Honestly this is one of the most comfortable (but dressy) dresses I own, and the looseness makes it easy to air out on those wedding dance floors!

Because now I try to fit in yarn store visits while traveling, I went to check out during our weekend Chicago trip! Such a lovely store with very friendly and helpful staff, and great organization with an excellent selection of local yarns and other goodies (including custom hooks - I had to get one to start my project on the plane ride home!). I'm so happy I was introduced to Sister Ananse Yarn ( ) and I'm absolutely in love with this color (and honestly all her dyes 😍)

Latest finish, a new Sagebrush Tank Top in my new favorite yarn! I love that this pattern really lets the striping show itself off, and that I can basically use it as a reversible top - pink center or green?
