Twenty-Five Years Later
Today, Downey Enterprise joins Americans throughout the country in remembering the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.
We remember the passengers and crews aboard the four aircraft. We remember those inside the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. We remember the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, military personnel, public servants, and ordinary citizens who responded when our nation needed them most.
September 11 showed us that heroes are not defined by their titles, uniforms, badges, or ranks. A hero can be any ordinary person who, when faced with an extraordinary moment, chooses to help someone else.
We honor the first responders who ran toward the Twin Towers while others were trying to escape.
We honor the passengers and crew of Flight 93 who fought back against the hijackers and prevented their aircraft from reaching Washington, D.C.
We honor the service members, veterans, law-enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency personnel, volunteers, and families who answered the call during the difficult years that followed.
As a locally owned business, we believe that strong communities are built through service, responsibility, respect, and people helping one another. Today is not about promoting a business. It is about pausing as Americans to remember the lives lost, the courage shown, and the sacrifices made.
May we never forget what happened.
May we never forget those who answered the call.
May we never forget how Americans came together.
