I wanted to share this over here and thank you all for your continued support for our vision❤️
I wanted to take a minute to catch up with you.
We all know that 2020 was a wild ride.
Our long-time friends know that we began as Ryan’s Daughters as a way to honor my Father and Grandfather. Our vision was conceived on the mission field in Honduras with my two, then teenage daughters. Our hearts were to use our skills to serve and give-back wherever we could and this felt like a good way to do that.
If you follow Ryan’s Daughters, please continue to, because we have every intention of continuing to honor these men that we have been so privileged to have been influenced by.
After the tremendous loss, of my father, who left this world far too soon, we created Altruist with the . The intention was for Altruist to be a lifestyle brand, featuring "give-back brands”, with a percentage of our proceeds going to local charities. It will continue to, just growing.
A little bit about the last year or so;
At the end of 2018, I traveled to see our oldest daughter get engaged. In Paris!
In 2019, we planned a wedding. At the same time, a friend encouraged me to go through 200 hour yoga teacher training with her. I created a yoga workshop & graduated. Then I got a scary health diagnosis & sold our home in the same day, had a successful surgical procedure and moved out of our home. We celebrated a beautiful wedding in the same place my grand-parents had their first date. I rehabbed my body & moved into a rental home to catch my breath.
Then came 2020. Covid brought a lot of unknown. The yoga studio I was teaching at closed permanently, the housing market went crazy, I taught some pretty cool football players at UAB yoga via zoom through quarantine, my amazing 98 year old Grandfather went to heaven, we buried our yorkie-poo, & my baby girl graduated from UF.
2020 was brutal for boutique retail and many others. Instead of struggling more, we took some time to reflect on the good.
•Good is tying the flower crowns on children at out local children’s hospital in collaboration with Headbands of Hope.
•Good was meeting each of you at local festivals, fund-raisers, or virtually.
• Good is remembering to breathe and to savor the good.
Good is having the tools to get through the hard stuff.
• Good is having faith to sustain.
•Good is celebrating a life, fully lived, leaving a legacy.
May I encourage you to intentionally savor the Good?
This year I was given the opportunity to continue my education through Veteran’s Yoga Project’s Mindful Resilience for Trauma training. This is a wonderful program and I can not wait to bring what I have learned into our community. I have experienced, first hand, the way a personal yoga practice can help me handle stressful seasons of life.
I am so excited to be able to add both group and private practice yoga sessions to the Altruist offering as a certified, insured teacher.
Please watch for our pop-up events on our social media pages and feel free to message us to schedule a session or ask questions.
*You do not have to be a Veteran to participate
