TWICE TOLD TALES OPENING STATUS
To our loyal (and I am sure greatly frustrated) customers:
I am extremely disappointed to have to announce that we will be closed for a longer time than we had hoped.
I have delayed making commitments about curbside book deliveries, or even home deliveries by carrier, for as long as possible. We are now at the point that the shop could be legally open under some restrictions.
The reason for our lack of communication has not been lack of desire; we have missed providing books to readers more than we can say.
Unfortunately, at the end of March, just as the pandemic shutdowns began, Marilyn, the owner, was diagnosed with throat cancer. Intense treatment began immediately. The prognosis is good, although the treatment will require that we stay closed a bit longer. Marilyn’s immune system is compromised, and she is making every effort to avoid unnecessary contact with others. The first two months of this decision coincided with a required lockdown. Now that things are opening up, we beg your indulgence for a bit longer. We hope to have a plan in place to begin offering service by the middle of July..
A temporary side effect of the treatment is that Marilyn has lost her voice. I will try to have someone respond to voice messages that have come through, but leaving a message at the store land-line will will get a slow response.
We will try to respond to special orders at this point. The Best way to communicate any requests is:

I have received several messages already over the last few weeks, and will respond to them as soon as I can. Do not hesitate to try again as I may have missed some.
Thank you for your patience during this trying time and we will try to keep you updated as things develop. We certainly understand if you shop elsewhere at this time -- books are a necessity no matter what the government says. We hope to see you again when we are better able to meet your needs.
The prognosis for this illness is good, and I fully expect to be back at things full time in the future. It is difficult to say when that will be, however.
