Changes!
Hello friends,
To maximize the two storefronts and square footage that I have, I’ve decided to make some changes!
I will be moving One Woman’s Trash into the former “garden room” in the main store. It will become a store within a store of Modern Vintage with ONE checkout counter. I’m hopeful having ALL the retail in one store will help with the daily confusion I encounter about having 2 stores side by side. I can’t tell you how confusing this has apparently been. I get it, the stores have similar layouts with the door on the right but even painting them different colors hasn’t helped. As such many customers go to only one store or frequently get them mixed up. This was a problem back when I did the Christmas pop up as well.
With that being said, the “little store”: the current One Woman’s Trash—the one with the purple door, gray floor and side windows lol—will be my new art/craft creative space for classes and projects. It will not be “a shop” with hours open to the public. I will host people who want to teach classes or workshops.
This change will happen gradually over June and for now both storefronts are open. I will not be taking new consignors until after this is complete. So it’s business as usual for the moment.
It will be much easier for me to run both store concepts this way and do something else fun to boot. I thought about using the spare room for classes but it’s too small and that started the wheels turning.
I can’t believe people are still surprised by this, but I pay rent. (!!) My space isn’t free. So I have to maximize the sales per sq foot.
Also, not gonna lie, it seems to really bug some people that they have to go outside to go to the other store. I don’t get it. You have to go outside to visit any of the other lovely shops in Flushing (and I hope you do!). I also have to go outside. 🤪
Thanks for being here!
