What an incredible weekend! We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out for our annual Halloween Open House!

This was by far our biggest Halloween event yet, and the turnout absolutely blew us away. Over the course of the weekend:

🎃 400+ customers came through our doors
👻 808 items found new homes!

We truly couldn’t have asked for better customers. Whether you were waiting outside before the doors opened, stopped in later to browse, shopped with us online, or simply followed along and shared our posts — thank you for supporting our small business!

Months of searching, buying, researching, pricing, photographing, decorating, and preparing go into putting this event together, and seeing so many people excited about antique and vintage Halloween makes every bit of it worthwhile.

And Halloween isn’t over just yet! 🎃 We still have over 125 Halloween items available to browse and shop on our online store, with shipping available!

We also want to thank everyone for your patience, kindness, and enthusiasm throughout the weekend, especially during the initial rush Saturday morning. The turnout exceeded even our expectations, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of customers to share the weekend with.

We’re already looking forward to hosting another great Halloween sale next year — and, as always, we’ll be spending the year hunting for more unusual, rare, and fun Halloween pieces to bring you!

Just in!

We recently picked up these RARE wooden S’More bottle crates, and with fall right around the corner, the timing couldn’t be better! There’s no better season for bonfires, marshmallows, and s’mores, and these crates would be perfect to add to your fall decor or an existing marshmallow tin collection!

These crates are very rarely seen. In fact, very little information exists on the product line, but we were able to dig up some history!

In May of 1965, the Chaseburg Co-Op Creamery of Chaseburg, Wisconsin, released a new product in hopes of capturing a new segment of customers, with the slogan “You’ll Love S’MORE”. The creamery began bottling white milk and chocolate milk in pop-style bottles, with the intention of selling them in six-packs at grocery stores throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as individual bottles through vending machines in schools, office buildings, and other locations. Surviving bottle caps also reveal that the creamery bottled flavored drinks, including fruit punch, grape, and orange.

This new venture did not last long, and sometime in 1966, the creamery ceased the bottling operation.

These appear to be quite scarce today. Despite extensive searching, we’ve found very little surviving S’More material from the Chaseburg Creamery beyond a handful of bottles and bottle caps, and very few examples of the original wooden bottle carrier crates!

For a short-lived product from a small-town Wisconsin creamery more than 60 years ago, it’s pretty amazing these survived!

We only have these two crates available. You likely won’t find another one anytime soon. Don’t miss out!

🎃 HALLOWEEN OPEN HOUSE — KNOW BEFORE YOU GO! 🎃

First, a quick reminder that WE ARE CLOSED TODAY — FRIDAY as we put the finishing touches on everything for tomorrow’s Halloween Open House!

We’re expecting a great turnout Saturday morning, so here are a few things to know before you arrive:

🕗 DOORS OPEN AT 8:00 AM SHARP!

To help keep things orderly and give everyone a little room to shop, we will allow the first 20 customers in at 8:00 AM, followed by another group of approximately 20 after 60–90 seconds, and so on. Depending on the crowd, we may temporarily limit the number of customers inside the store at one time.

🎃 SHOPPING BAGS & CARTS

Small shopping bags and baskets are welcome. Feel free to use them while shopping throughout the store.

🎃 WALL & DISPLAY CASE ITEMS

Please ask an employee for assistance before removing anything from the walls.

Employees will also be available to open our locked display cases so you can view items up close. Due to the value of many of the pieces inside these cases, display-case items may NOT be placed in personal shopping bags, baskets, or carts.

You are absolutely welcome to handle and inspect an item once an employee removes it from the case. If you decide you would like to purchase it, simply hand the item back to the employee and confirm that you are claiming it. We will take your name and safely place the item behind the checkout counter while you continue shopping.

This will allow everyone to enjoy looking at the pieces while helping us keep some of the rarer and more valuable items safe.

🧡 PLEASE BE KIND & PATIENT

Last year, everyone was incredibly kind, courteous, and respectful of one another, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group of shoppers. We ask for that same courtesy again this year!

Please be respectful of your fellow collectors and exercise a little patience as our employees assist everyone. We have a limited number of employees available, and we will be doing our very best to help everyone as quickly as possible.

We’re just about ready for our Vintage Halloween Open House this Saturday & Sunday, September 12–13!

A quick reminder that Brothers Antiques will be CLOSED today Friday, September 11 while we make our final preparations for the weekend.

Another unusual piece coming out for our Halloween Open House! 👹

This approximately 11” tall German-made clockwork devil actually winds up and walks forward — and its age has been the subject of plenty of discussion among longtime Halloween collectors.

There has been considerable discussion among longtime Halloween collectors regarding the age of these unusual later German-made pieces. A number of miniature German lanterns and mechanical figures surfaced in the American collecting market during the early 1990s, leading some collectors to date their manufacture to that period.

Others believe at least some of these pieces may have been manufactured considerably earlier, possibly during the postwar West German period of the 1950s–1960s, and remained warehoused or relatively unknown until examples were exported and entered the American collector market around the time of German reunification.

The precise date of manufacture remains a matter of collector debate. We are conservatively offering this example as post-WWII German manufacture rather than representing it as an earlier prewar Halloween toy.

This example is in good working order with its winding key and even retains its round cardboard packaging.

Whether 1960s West Germany or a later German creation, it’s certainly not a commonly seen piece!

🎃 THE HALLOWEEN TRANSFORMATION IS COMPLETE! 🎃

After months of hunting, buying, researching, unpacking—and a full day spent transforming the store—we’re finally ready for our Vintage Halloween Open House this Saturday & Sunday, September 12–13!

This is easily the largest collection of vintage and antique Halloween we’ve ever assembled. The store is packed with early papier-mâché jack-o’-lanterns, German Halloween pieces, decorations, die-cuts, noisemakers, lanterns, masks, paper goods, advertising and plenty of other weird, wonderful and downright spooky pieces. 👻

These photos are only a glimpse of what we have set up.

🕸️ SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12: The collection will be available in-store first, giving our local customers the first opportunity to shop.

💻 SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 13 at 7:00 AM CST: Remaining Halloween inventory will go live online for our customers and collectors across the country.
