What is faith? Well, is it trust in God? Or is it obeying God? No. Trusting God and obeying God are the results of having faith. Do you realize that faith is a gift? Do you realize that grace is a gift? Ephesians 2:8-9, are very familiar scriptures to most people, but many times we fail to pay attention to ALL the words. We are saved by grace through faith neither of which we had operating in us before we received Jesus. The rest of the verse says IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD. We cannot work to receive God’s free gift. We receive it. Then faith grows by hearing and acting on God’s Word. In these days, we will only be able “to stand” if our faith is grounded in what God has to say.

What we see and hear are part of our emotional make-up. Many times what we hear is not the truth and what we see is not the truth, but we let our minds meditate on these untruths. When we do that we cause ourselves great grief. We cannot allow ourselves to turn lies into truth in our mind and expect no problems. What am I talking about? Relationships for one thing. We can not allow ourselves to always think people are talking about us, or they are rejecting us, or they are trying to influence someone else to dislike us. We must know who we are in Jesus. We are accepted by God because of Jesus’ sacrifice. God loves us. Let that be your thought today. Cast all other thoughts away and praise God. Walk by faith and not by sight.

The power of God in His Word will become the power of God in us as we read, speak, meditate, and live daily the Word of God in our lives. EASY? NO! But we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We have the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, instruct, and reveal God’s Word and His ways to us. Let us listen and live in the power of God each day. May we walk with peace on our feet and joy in hearts as we live, and move, and have our being in the wonderful Word of the living God!

You can put your trust in God without fear. He is the Father of light and in Him is no darkness. That means that He is the same today as He was yesterday and will be tomorrow. God is the one thing in our lives that does not change. When we ask Him for wisdom according to His Word, He is faithful and just to give His wisdom to us. We need His wisdom continually to know what we are to do and what decisions we are to make in our lives. As the world gets darker, we must walk in the light and wisdom of God to be victorious in this life as we look forward to eternity in the presence of God.

When you are preparing to plant a garden, you must decide what you are going to plant and then you must prepare the ground to receive the seed you are planting. When Jesus becomes our Savior we are given a new heart that is good ground to receive the Word of God. So....now we begin to plant seed. Our natural garden may have tomatoes, beans, peas, watermelon, etc and we take great pleasure in anticipating the good things that we will be able to eat shortly. The spiritual seed which is planted in us is called the fruit of the Spirit which is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We should take pleasure in anticipating the wonderful presence of God in our lives as this fruit grows.

May we always remember that God is our refuge and meditate on the words of the Psalmist David: Psalm 62: 5-8 (KJV)

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for thy expectation is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in Him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. Selah. (Selah means that we should meditate on these things)

As the world around us grows darker, we must let our light shine brighter and brighter every day. Proverbs 4: 18-19 (AMP)

But the path of the [uncompromisingly] just and righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines more and more (brighter and clearer) until [it reaches its full strength and glory in] the perfect day [to be prepared]. The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.

God is a mighty God. He is our mighty God! Do you realize that the children of Israel were in the desert for 40 years and their clothes did not wear out! Neither did their shoes! Their feet did not swell! They had the cloud of God’s presence for shade in the daytime and the fire of His presence at night for heat! Why do we question whether God will do things for us? Why do we sometimes think “that was the old testament!” Is God the same yesterday, today, and forever? Yes! We must ask, believe, and expect to see the mighty awesome power of God operate in our lives every day!

When love, joy, and peace rule in your heart, people will want to have what you have. This is some of the spiritual fruit that is missing in today’s world. It is not an easy thing to walk in love with people or to be JOYFUL while you do it, but if we can learn to keep our emotions under control we will have the wonderful blessing of living daily in the peace of God. In this world today, living in the peace of God is a marvelous thing that we all need to do. Not many people have peace in their lives. Most live in a chaotic state of mind and activity. They will be drawn to those of us who are walking in the love of God, the strength of His joy, and letting His peace rule our lives. Be light! Be salt! Let Jesus rule and reign in you.

The situation that seemingly had no answer for the children of Israel at the Red sea, turned into a miracle. The water parted and stood straight up! The muddy bottom of the sea became dry and the people walked across the sea on dry ground. Take a moment and meditate on that. Can you see yourself walking through the sea on dry ground? The children of Israel walked across the sea on dry land. The Egyptians tried to follow them. The sea came back together and buried the army of destruction in the water. As we walk by faith, trusting God for each step we take, we too will be able to look from the other side see the issues of our lives get buried in the sea. Our God is an awesome God!
