We simply can’t get enough of our Curcuma and it’s easy to see why! Absolutely Breathtaking and even though they look delicate, they are quite tough. Once planted, they thrive in the heat and humidity during summer and fall, then they go into dormancy through winter and spring and come back full force in the heat of the summer!

We had incredible few days last week in Ohio at one of the country’s leading horticulture conventions. AmericanHort, the leading national association for the green industry, hosted Cultivate—the premier event for the entire green industry—at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Cultivate is known to attract thousands of industry professionals and visitors from all over the United States and the world.

Our team was busy visiting with associates and going to sessions focused on research and development, marketing, professional growth, management, leadership, pesticides, production, building customer and employee relationships, social media, new products and plants, and so much more. Throughout the event, there are educational sessions that allow everyone to gain knowledge and experiences from our industry partners. Cultivate allows us to hear others speak who are in the same industry with the same or similar experiences and allow us to grow and bring a different perspective and new ideas back to better serve our customers, employees, and colleagues at the nursery and in our community.

This event is always a great opportunity to reconnect with industry partners, colleagues, associates, growers, salespeople, and friends from across the horticulture industry. Our industry is full of amazing people with innovative ideas and experiences. Cultivate is such a great experience as we are able to catch up with so many new people industry wide and friends to share ideas and have meaningful dialogues with them. The horticulture industry is a special one and whether you are a newbie or a lifetime member, Cultivate is the best place to share your experiences and learn from others. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the year brings.
Here are some photos of new and amazing plants that were introduced this year on the convention floor. We will be carrying many of these next year and can’t wait to share them.

Welcome to summer! What is more inviting than these absolute beauties?!? It wasn’t a surprise when LSU AgCenter named these beasts in their recommended Louisiana Super Plant program. Just look at how beautiful they are! So many amazing qualities, but showstopper is the best way we know how to describe them. And they are just getting started, so much more beauty to come!

Here is the scoop on Limelight Hydrangea as per the LSU AgCenter. The Limelight hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata) is a Louisiana Super Plant! It thrives in full sun to part shade, and can reach 6-8 feet tall and wide.

Limelight begins to bloom in late May or June. The cone-shaped flower heads are large and very showy. The color starts off a cool, celadon green, matures to creamy white and ages to old rose in late summer or fall.

Prune this shrub during late winter or early spring. This hydrangea blooms on new growth. Plants are shapelier and bloom better if pruned back by about one-third in February or March.

Spring Sizzle® Panicle Hydrangea is one of the earliest blooming panicle hydrangeas that brings unforgettable blooms and color to the garden. Starting in early summer, Spring Sizzle® is covered in white flowers that quickly transform to deep red, even in warm regions. Plus, the blooms are held up on strong stems that won’t flop. Maturing at four to six feet tall and four to five feet wide, this hydrangea is perfect for hedges and foundation plantings.
