International Bronze recently manufactured a bronze plaque to help honor the officers of the Tampa Bay Police Department who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving their community. 

The bronze plaque rests in front of a metal sculpture of a lion. Tampa artist Dominique Martinez, a metal sculptor and CEO of Rustic Steel, was commissioned by the  to create “TAKING A STANCE.” The lion sculpture is made up of various pieces of the police vehicle that Master Police Officer Jesse Madsen was driving when he was tragically killed in the line of duty. Officer Madsen was 45 years old, a United States Marine combat veteran, a husband and father of 3. He was killed on impact when he heroically moved his police vehicle into the path of a wrong-way driver to save the lives of others. 

In addition to Officer Madsen's police vehicle, 125 decommissioned pistols, revolvers, shotguns and assault rifles are woven into the sculpture. The lion weighs in at 800 pounds, stands six feet tall and consists of over 6,000 welds throughout the entire piece. Fabrication of this piece took about 800 hours.

We want to say thank you to all police officers. You risk your lives to save ours. You sacrifice your comforts and festivals to protect us. With all of our heart, we thank you for everything.
