Penn State is offering another Beekeeping Around the World webinar series. They are all free and can be watched via zoom. You must register for each episode (pita). You can also watch the episodes from last year if you missed them. The new ones will be available to watch as well. I think about 2 or 3 days after the live episode.

Here is a new/old method for saving your frames from Wax Moths. Certan B402 is a solution that can be sprayed onto your frames when you store them. Bacillius thuringiensis is not new in insect control. This 5 oz bottle will treat 100 deep frames or 155 medium frames. The mix ratio is 1oz of B402 to 19 oz of water for a total of 20oz. I used a graduated spray bottle from home depot to mix my solution and simply sprayed 1 oz per deep frame (.5 oz each side) and hung them in a box to dry. This frame has been exposed for about 2 weeks with no sign of moths anywhere. Since this is not toxic to bees, when I'm ready to use the frames, I can just place them back in the hive. No smelly crystal residue to air out (for weeks). 5oz bottle $33.00, less than 35 cents per frame. (I do carry the smelly crystals as well 😉).

I had the wonderful opportunity to work with Bug Bite Thing and show a few students from the Boys & Girls Club Of St Lucie County the inside of a bee hive for World 🐝 Day. It's always fun showing kids the awesomeness of nature.
