Job Posting: Night Crew Circulation Clerk at Vernon Parish Library
Position: Circulation Clerk
Location: Vernon Parish Library
Employment Type: Part-time
Hours: Monday - Thursday 5:30-8:00pm
About the Role:
The Night Crew Circulation Clerk assists with the evening operations of the library by providing friendly customer service, maintaining organization throughout the building, and helping create a welcoming environment for patrons of all ages. This position plays an important role in ensuring the library remains clean, organized, efficient, and community-focused during late afternoon and evening hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist patrons at the circulation desk with checking materials in and
out
Help patrons locate books, movies, computers, and library
resources
Answer phones and direct questions to appropriate staff members
Shelve and straighten books, DVDs, and other materials accurately
Maintain neatness and organization throughout public areas of the
library
Assist with closing procedures at the end of the evening shift
Monitor patron activity to help maintain a safe and respectful
environment
Help prepare displays, activity areas, and public spaces as needed
Support children’s and family programming when evening assistance is required
Process library cards, overdue notices, and basic circulation tasks
Assist with basic computer and copier/printer questions for patrons
Work cooperatively with all library departments and staff members
Desired Qualifications:
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability to work well with children, teens, adults, and senior patrons
Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
Basic computer knowledge and willingness to learn library software
Ability to organize materials using alphabetical and numerical
systems
Dependable, professional, and adaptable in a busy public
environment
