We’re glad you asked.

For the purposes of this sale, we’re talking about the big, flowing, fleshy corals everyone stares at when they walk past the tanks:

🔨 HAMMER CORALS
The ones with hammer/anchor-shaped tips.

🐸 FROGSPAWN CORALS
The ones with branching, multi-tipped tentacles that vaguely resemble frog eggs, assuming you’ve spent enough time around aquariums to accept that explanation without question.

🔥 TORCH CORALS
Long flowing tentacles, bright tips, and absolutely no respect for the personal space of neighboring corals.

That means TORCHES, HAMMERS & FROGSPAWNS ARE ALL 50% OFF.

And we have a LOT of torches right now.

Many of them were locally grown, so they’ve already been raised successfully in captivity and have the added benefit of understanding Midwestern hardship.

Just remember: Euphyllia may look soft and friendly.

They are not.

Give them appropriate lighting, moderate flow, stable reef parameters, and enough room that their sweeper tentacles can’t reach their neighbors and begin a territorial dispute at 2:00 AM.

🚨 LOCALLY GROWN CORAL HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING

We recently received a large batch of locally grown torch corals and frankly some of them are getting a little too confident.

These weren’t flown halfway around the world.

They were grown locally.

Which means they’re already familiar with Indiana’s natural ecosystem:

Unpredictable temperatures.

Questionable infrastructure.

[LINE REDACTED]

They’re basically natives.

There are some seriously nice torch frags in this batch, along with plenty of other new pieces we’re getting settled in.

Buying locally aquacultured coral also means supporting local growers while adding coral to your reef that’s already been successfully grown in captivity.

Which is responsible reef keeping.

Unfortunately, buying six because “they’re local” is still just buying six torches.

We checked.

📦 RECEIVING DEPARTMENT INCIDENT REPORT #34

This week’s livestock shipment has been successfully unpacked.

Mostly.

The current situation is as follows:

• The Blue Dot Jawfish has already disappeared into the sand despite being here for approximately 11 minutes.
• The Clown Trigger has been evaluating everyone with the confidence of middle management.
• The Juvenile Emperor Angel somehow arrived looking more important than the owner.
• The Orange Shoulder Tangs have immediately started pretending they own the place.
• The Ruby Red Dragonets continue floating around as if gravity is merely a suggestion.
• We now have enough Cerith Snails, Scarlet Hermits, Red Tip Hermits, Emerald Crabs, Peppermint Shrimp, and Dwarf Blue Leg Hermits to solve problems most people haven’t discovered yet.

And against all odds…

• 20 Pitho Crabs have returned to continue their hostile takeover of nuisance bubble algae.

Meanwhile…

Coleson has already identified three animals that “deserve their own display.”

Management has reminded him we are still a store, not an aquarium.

Dylan has spent an unreasonable amount of time admiring the surprisingly nice shipment of assorted Acropora colonies despite repeatedly insisting he was “just checking inventory.”

Matt sent a text saying “Don’t sell that one too cheap.” We still don’t know which one he meant.

Today’s shipment has arrived.

We are legally required to allow the fish time to acclimate.

We are not legally required to stop Dylan from wandering into the fish room every six minutes to “check on them.”

Current status:

✅ Fish acclimating.

✅ Coral settling in.

✅ Nobody has escaped.

❌ Coleson has been denied permission to build a “temporary display.”

📢 STORE UPDATE

After yesterday’s unexpected closure, we’re happy to report that Summit City Coral is OPEN today!

Several customers reached out to check on us, and we appreciate it.

The culprit?

Dylan.

More specifically…

A parasite in Dylan.

Cyclospora.

Before anyone panics:

❌ It is not contagious through casual contact.
❌ You are not going to catch it by visiting the store.
❌ The fish had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Management has assured us that Dylan has already been professionally given the “wish you were well” statement and hopes to be on the mend soon.

Matt briefly considered replacing him with the Employee of the Month (the Pitho Crab), but HR determined the crab still lacks point-of-sale experience.

Coleson has already asked if this means he’s in charge.

It does not.

So come on in today! The livestock is healthy, the coral is looking great, and Dylan has been temporarily removed from the list of recommended cleanup crew members.

Livestock Professional Boundaries

To maintain a safe and professional workplace, employees are reminded that livestock are coworkers, not family members.

The following policies are now in effect:

✅ Saying “good morning” to fish is acceptable.

✅ Congratulating clownfish on laying eggs is acceptable.

⚠️ Naming every invert that arrives is discouraged.

❌ Becoming emotionally invested in a blue urchin’s daily whereabouts is prohibited.

❌ Telling customers, “He’s actually really sweet once you get to know him,” when referring to an urchin is grounds for additional training.

This morning Dylan claimed to have experienced what he described as…

“a vision.”

Naturally, we ignored him.

He insisted it was different this time.

He claimed to have seen the future.

According to Dylan, sometime very soon…

ALL ANEMONES WILL BE 50% OFF.

We asked if he was absolutely certain.

He said yes.

We asked about the Holy Grail Anemone.

He became unusually quiet.

He looked back into the middle distance for several seconds.

Then he said,

“Not that one.”

We’ve reviewed the vision.

It appears every Bubble Tip Anemone, Rock Flower Anemone, and other anemone in the store has been affected…

…except the Holy Grail.

Apparently even the future has limits.

Matt has not confirmed the prophecy.

He also hasn’t denied it.

Coleson suggested we rename the event The Summit City Cichlids Vision Sale.

His suggestion has been filed appropriately.

Come visit before Dylan has another vision.
