Elsie’s Tune by Jonathan Watson A 99-year-old Elsie Ragusin survived Auschwitz and Ravensbruck concentration camps in World War II. I've run two marathons and four half-marathons.

Now, she's ready to reveal how God, music, and her family helped her survive while still overcoming them with her present family. I'm a huge history buff as I've mentioned in the very beginning of the book. If God wills it, I will run more marathons--a marathon on every continent in the world. in 2006 when I traveled on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic--my first time out of the United States. Since then, I've been to 35 countries over four continents. I met my wife in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2015. Her name is Anjani and she's from Kakinada, India. We've been married since 2016, and we have a beautiful daughter named Grace. I hope to be invited to speak publicly at as many events as possible. I want to sign as many of your books as possible. October 18, 2021. That's the date Elsie told me over the phone that she loved me as her son. The world shook that day because she touched my heart like no other.

I'm not a smoker. I've never smoked any drugs--not even ma*****na. The only thing I smoke is a Nicaraguan cigar, which I enjoy once a year on October 18th. It's my own ritual of celebrating one of the most special days in my life. When someone fills a hole in your heart with such words, you remember it forever.

I don't know if Elsie's Tune will be a NYT bestseller like I hope it will be. It's won four book awards and can absolutely be a bestseller if the right marketing person or team takes it on. Unfortunately, luck hasn't been on my side. More than anything, I want as many people as possible to know Elsie's story. I want people to remember her. She deserves every bit of it. I pray I get the support I need for it.

P.S. That flag in the background is half America and half India. I'm American, and my wife is from India. Our daughter is half and half.

Reflections on the Book #16: Apple Strudel (Chapter 5)

Elsie's favorite dessert was apple strudel. I mentioned the same dessert in the last chapter of the book when I went to Costco. No spoilers.

Sometimes food or other unconventional things can remind us of other people. Every time I see apple strudel being sold, I see if I can buy it. It reminds me of the hole that Elsie filled in my heart when she told me she loved me as her son. It's one of the greatest moments for me.
