1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
How quickly we forget, after coming to God, just what Hehas, is, and will do for us, and where He has, is, or will bring us from and through. Why is it we become the judge of everyone else instead of looking in the mirror?
Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 6:19, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” If we are the temple/house of God, maybe we need to take a long look at 1 Peter 4:17, “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
We must first take a long look at ourselves and make sure the “AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU” is still written upon our hearts. I am not white washing all those that are unrighteous. They are left without excuse and will have to one day answer for the deeds they have done.
I am merely trying to encourage us to spend our time rejoicing and enjoying the life of Galatians 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
Our prayer for you this week: May you come to realize how powerful the words, “And such were some of you”really are.
