Creative handmade gifts from my spinning, knitting, crochet, weaving, sewing, 3D printing, and more. We make what we like so our crafts and gifts vary.

I sew, weave, knit or crochet a variety of reusable gifts, wool dryer balls and bags. My husband turns, carves and uses his multiple 3D printers for a variety of gifts. We have many of our items at three local boutique stores in Fort Wayne and Huntington with more places to be announced shortly. Check out our website links for locations.

Trying something new in the backyard. I am taking some cotton bags I tye-dyed last year and am over dyeing them at our backyard firecircle. The color is called Twilight Cocoa and is coming out a beautiful Marion blue color in honor our our Blessed Mother, Mary. Looking forward to seeing how pretty these will be when dry.

Before the Rosary was something you struggled to fit between dinner and Netflix, a pope rallied Christians to pray it while a fleet went into battle.

On October 7, 1571, the Holy League faced the Ottoman navy at Lepanto. Pope St. Pius V had called Christians to pray the Rosary.

It was an enormous and brutal battle - nearly 500 vessels and well over 100,000 men crowded into the Gulf of Patras. Cannon fire opened the fighting, but the galleys soon crashed together so tightly that parts of the battle became infantry combat at sea: soldiers boarding enemy decks and fighting at close range. By late afternoon, much of the Ottoman fleet had been captured or destroyed, and thousands of Christian galley slaves were freed.

After the victory, Pius V credited Mary’s intercession and established Our Lady of Victory - the feast we now celebrate as Our Lady of the Rosary.

Catholics do not pray the Rosary because Mary replaces Christ, but because she leads us more deeply into His life.

The Rosary is a meditation on Jesus: His birth, ministry, suffering, death, Resurrection, and glory. We ask Mary to pray with us as we contemplate the Son she loved, followed, and knew more closely than any other human being.

At Cana, she noticed what others had missed, brought the need to Jesus, and then gave the servants her clearest instruction: “Do whatever he tells you.”

That is Marian devotion in one sentence.

And yes, we repeat ourselves. We already do that with our worries. We might as well let the Gospel have a turn.

Lepanto required men to face an enemy fleet. Tonight may require putting down a phone and giving God fifteen minutes.

We should probably stop describing the second assignment as impossible.
