Sorry we’ve been a little quiet on here, it’s been a crazy busy event season. Between showers, and grad parties, and weddings, our volunteers have been hopping.
This summer we are celebrating 10 years of serving our community. It hasn’t been an easy 10 years. We’ve made mistakes. We’ve fallen. We’ve wanted to call it quits a few times. But here we are.
Over the course of the years we’ve had a few clients make comments about how some of the items don’t match perfectly. They aren’t in “new” condition. The colors are a slightly different shade. The shapes are not identical. The linens have imperfections.
We aren’t perfect. No one is. And our decor is used (in efforts to reuse and recycle to cut down on waste). We don’t have brand new linens. We don’t have every shape, size, or color under the sun.
Don’t get us wrong, we try to set very high standards with our quality of services, but we will never, ever be perfect. Our items and dresses will never ever be perfect. We certainly try to correct any mistakes to the best of our ability, but we will never be perfect.
In fact, it’s actually part of our mission to NOT be perfect. We actually consult with our clients and share that there WILL be mistakes and mishaps during their special day. It’s inevitable. Instead of focusing on perfection, we coach them to refocus their energy on the true meaning of their celebration. A new baby, a birthday, a wedding, a renewed vow. Surrounded by friends and family. THESE are the things that truly matter.
If you are always searching for perfection, you will always find nothing but imperfections. What a sad and depressing life to lead.
So while we certainly hold ourselves to very high standards, we will not be perfect. And we don’t want to be.
This imperfect group of VOLUNTEERS, is giving their time and energies so that others can host their celebrations within their means.
And that is worth celebrating!
