FWTX 💜🐸 ➡️ SPI TX ☀️🏝️🌊🏖️🐢

7.28.26 Our 8th Wedding Anniversary vacation was absolutely amazing! 💚💜👑👑💍💍 We made it home safely last night (well, early this morning 😂), and once again, South Padre Island stole our hearts. We are so thankful we’re able to make this trip every year!

From eating yummy food, thrifting throughout the Valley, relaxing on the beach, and stopping in Corpus Christi at Selena’s favorite restaurant (I’ll share those photos in my next post because I reached the photo limit on this one), every moment was absolutely amazing! We were even able to rent the same condo as last year, and the lady from Rent on Padre remembered me from last year! 🥹 That made our trip even more special.

Now it’s time to trade beach days for back-to-school mode. Tomorrow, I’m officially back on contract. As hard as it is to say goodbye to summer, I’m choosing gratitude. While I’m not teaching dual credit this Fall like I had hoped and prayed, I am incredibly blessed and thankful to continue teaching 8th Grade College & Careers/AVID. 💜👑🎓

I’m praying this school year is filled with growth, joy, and opportunities and hopefully I’ll be back teaching Dual Credit SPCH 1315 again soon 🙏🏽🤞🏽

From Mrs. Clayton to Professor Clayton! 💜👑🎓

Another dream came true this week! 🥹✨

Yesterday was my very first day teaching Dual-Credit Speech for Summer School, and I have had an absolute blast these last two days! 🎤👏🏽

Almost all of my students have already given their presentations, and I am so proud of them! Most, if not all of these students are taking their very first college class, and watching them step out of their comfort zones and succeed has been incredible. 💜

I’m teaching two sections of Dual-Credit Speech on Tuesdays and Wednesdays this summer, and every minute has reminded me why I love education so much. One student wasn’t able to present yet because her TCC login wasn’t working, but hopefully she’ll be ready to go soon!

This experience has been everything I hoped it would be and more. I truly wish I could teach Dual-Credit all day! 🥹💜

I can’t wait to do it all again next week! 🥰😍🥹👑💜✨

Growing up I could never afford to go anywhere for Spring Break and even in college. This was our first Spring Break getaway together and it was just the absolute best! We walked the Riverwalk, we stayed on the Riverwalk, and we did the San Antonio Zoo! 🦏🦩We stayed at the Drury Plaza Hotel when used to be an old bank in 1929! We were up on the 16th floor! So much fun and yummy food from the Alamo Biscuit Company (which is new on the Riverwalk) to one of our favorite places Mi Tierra’s! We did our usual walk at the Historic Market Square and went to a couple Goodwill’s we love and have been to in San Antonio. We also stopped at the Goodwill in Georgetown going down to San Antonio and had yummy P. Terry’s Burger Stand 🍔 Coming from DFW, the first P.Terry’s is in Georgetown 😋 Coming home we stopped at the Goodwill in Round Rock. Definitely a Spring Break to remember 💜💚😍😘🥰

FWTX💜🐸—ATX🧡🤟🏽

Yesterday was part of my birthday gift! 💜👑 I wanted to go to Austin and eat at the ONLY HEB Food Hall in Texas! 🛒❤️ I got sick well, double sick at the beginning of the month birthday weekend. We decided to wait till I got better and yesterday was just the perfect day to go! The weather was beyond perfect for day-tripping! I had a brisket chili (no beans of course) cheese hot dog! I only ate half it was so yummy! 😋 James got the Heart O’Texas sandwich. He loved it! Then we thrifted at a couple Goodwills around Austin 💙💙 We went to the Goodwill on Lamar first and then the Goodwill on Clocktower! We both found some goodies yesterday and it was just an amazing day to go day-tripping! 😍🥰

Shoutout to my sweet hubby for taking us down and back safely and asking me what we should do for bday it was worth the wait for sure 💚💜👑👑😘

My dad was/is UT Alumni, so every time we go to Austin it makes me think how much fun he had going to school down there and I always knew he loved Austin so much. I never got a chance to hear his Austin/UT stories, but just being down there visiting I can feel all the vibes and just imagine what stories he did have to share with me💙💜🧡🤟🏽

I definitely cried happy tears before lunch! 😭 One of my AVID students wrote me a birthday letter and we were both crying. Last week was a hard week for me and to read this made up for it all yesterday💜

Last night we had yummy steak and potatoes James had green beans no pics because it was so yummy 😂 but we both had yummy leftovers for lunch today! 😋

More celebrating to come once I kick whatever germs finally got to me! 😭 I will say turning 36 I’ve been taking more vitamins/supplements than I ever have before! 😂

Yesterday was such a special day! I knew in 2020 I wanted/needed to apply to grad school. Because of teaching, I went out and got a WHOLE MASTERS DEGREE. I’ve felt like in my heart, if I’m able to provide dual-credit opportunities so my students can save money, let’s do it! UNT didn’t accept me into their masters program, but I got into a way better Dual Masters Program at DBU! A year ago, I decided I needed to adjust my program to just M. Ed. in Higher Ed to be all online so that I could finally graduate today!

I maintained a 3.8 GPA while working as a full time teacher so that potentially one day I can apply for a doctoral program but not anytime soon! I want to work at a university one day and they can pay for my doctorate or get a really good discount on tuition at least! 💁🏽‍♀️

Thank you to the forever bestie Jordan Vidal for taking like the best video! I got to see you and your sweet Mama in the elevator when they got us all lined up! 🥹💜🎓😍😘

Being home before 6pm and in my PJ’s was definitely the best graduation gift of all! I was so exhausted that I came home and took the best nap!

Even though my nuclear family is long gone, I know the family I’m building/built was with me today and will be with me on Saturday to celebrate! 💜👑🎓👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I feel like my family in Heaven definitely sent me the gorgeous weather and NOT cold weather today! It’s like they knew right?! 💜💙💙💙

DBU is very strict on their commencement attire and I’m not allowed to wear any other things like my serape stole, or my decorated cap with my academic regalia, and even my bling booties when I graduate. It’s ok, this is why we take awesome pics and have an awesome photographer to do so! 💁🏽‍♀️📸

Since I can’t wear my bling booties when I walk, I’m still on the hunt for a “dark shoe” to wear on graduation but it needs to be cute though I’m not walking in a basic shoe despite commencement attire dress code lol 😂

Happy Grandparents Day to the most incredible human beings and the best grandparents that I could have ever asked for!

Did you know that we make up at least 20-25% of DNA from our grandparents? I learned that in my Family Communication Class in undergrad at TCU. When I came home to tell Nana and Popo that they were giggling because I think they knew it was obvious with us and Nana was like “of course you do!” 😂

I was their 2nd chance 💜After losing their own children, my Dad and Uncle, I knew it was always going to be us to get through life together. They taught me everything, raised me, protected me, and saved me from my crazy toxic mom in more ways than one 🥹😭

Nana and Popo, thank you for everything. Because of you two, I’m blessed to say I am who I am today because of you both who loved me and accepted me for who I am 💜

Being gone for over 10 years just doesn’t seem real 💜💙 you left this Earth knowing I would be a teacher and I feel like y’all just knew I would be good at what I do in this life. Keep visiting me in my dreams and I know y’all’s prayers are still protecting me from Heaven. I love you forever 💜

We made it home safely! 💜💚 We have some nice tans going on and we feel rejunivated! 😎 Our condo was amazing and EVERYONE WAS SO NICE! We highly recommend Rent on Padre is where we got our condo but we found it on ! We loved SPI so much we definitely are planning to come back for years to come! From ALL the yummy food, gorgeous beaches, such nice people, this trip was definitely one of our top anniversary getaway/celebrations! 😍🥰😘👑👑💍💍☀️🌊⛱️🏖️🏝️
