Ever wondered why two people can take the same C*D product and describe completely different experiences?

They have different chemical structures, biological interactions, and levels of human research. C*D has been studied more extensively in humans, while research on CBG and CBN is still developing.

That’s why it’s important to look at each cannabinoid on its own rather than assuming what applies to one automatically applies to another.

If C*D doesn't reliably make someone stronger or faster, why are athletes still interested in it?

That's actually a fascinating question.

A recent survey of 80 elite-level Canadian athletes found that 38% had used C*D. Among C*D users, commonly reported reasons included perceived improvements in sleep and relaxation and reduced training-related pain.

This doesn't prove that C*D causes those benefits, it tells us what athletes themselves are looking for when they use it.

And that's an important distinction. Athletes don't necessarily view C*D as a replacement for training or a shortcut to better performance. Some are interested in how cannabinoids might fit into their broader wellness routines and overall exercise experience.

Research is now beginning to examine those real-world questions more closely.

Sometimes the most interesting question isn't “Does it make you stronger?” but “Why are athletes choosing it in the first place?”

CBN has become strongly associated with nighttime routines, but its research goes beyond sleep. Scientists are studying how CBN interacts with the endocannabinoid system and other biological pathways, including areas related to inflammation, pain perception, and neurological function.

Sleep research is also becoming more interesting. A 2024 randomized controlled study found that 20 mg of CBN reduced nighttime awakenings and overall sleep disturbance in people reporting poor sleep, although other sleep measures did not significantly differ from placebo.

At the same time, newer research continues to explore CBN in different contexts. A 2026 randomized trial in adults with diagnosed insomnia found some improvements in subjective sleep quality and certain sleep measures with 300 mg CBN, while the primary measure of wake time after sleep onset was not significantly changed. The researchers emphasized that larger, longer studies are still needed.

So, CBN is certainly being studied for sleep, but sleep isn't the whole story. Its broader potential is still being investigated, which makes CBN one of the more interesting cannabinoids to watch. 🌿

Did you know your body already makes its own cannabinoids? 🌿🧠

Your body has an endocannabinoid system (ECS), a biological signaling system involved in regulating processes such as mood, sleep, appetite, pain perception, and immune function.

The ECS produces its own naturally occurring cannabinoids called endocannabinoids, including anandamide and 2-AG. These compounds interact with cannabinoid receptors throughout the body to help maintain homeostasis, or internal balance.

And here's the interesting part: exercise itself can influence the endocannabinoid system. Research has found that physical activity can increase circulating levels of endocannabinoids, which may be one piece of the science behind the positive feelings associated with exercise. 🏃‍♀️💪

Rate of Perceived exertion, or RPE, is the feeling of how difficult an exercise session is. Two workouts can have similar physiological demands but feel very different depending on the person, environment, mood, and other factors.

C*D has been investigated to see whether it changes this exercise experience. A 2022 randomized trial found that 300 mg of C*D taken before endurance exercise produced no difference in RPE compared with placebo, although researchers observed some changes in other exercise responses.

A more recent 2025 pilot study produced an interesting finding: runners taking 300 mg of C*D reported an 8% lower average RPE at mile one of a 2-mile time trial. However, their overall running performance did not significantly improve.

That distinction is important. Feeling an exercise differently isn't necessarily the same as performing better.

C*D and exercise perception are still an interesting area of research, particularly because the experience of training can influence motivation and enjoyment.

Researchers study different doses because the body can respond differently depending on the cannabinoid, amount, timing, individual biology, and other factors. A higher amount doesn't necessarily mean a stronger or better outcome.

That’s why responsible cannabinoid research looks at dose and response, not simply “more is more.” 🌿

A 2025 randomized trial tested 50 mg and 300 mg of C*D before endurance exercise, adding to the growing body of research on C*D and physical activity.

The fascinating part is that there isn't necessarily a simple “more exercise = more C*D effect” formula.
