Set against the backdrop of 1880s Oberlin College, The Ladies Hall is inspired by the real lives of pioneering Black women Mary Church Terrell, Anna Julia Cooper, and Ida Gibbs Hunt.

At a time when women—and especially Black women—were forced to continually prove their right to learn, lead, and excel, these remarkable women challenged barriers and built legacies that continue to inspire generations.

It’s a compelling story of ambition, sisterhood, resistance, perseverance, and hope—and an excellent selection for book clubs and readers of historical fiction.
