KL Designs by Karen Yaffe and I are getting ready to kick off our Spirit of America Stitch-a-Long in just a couple of weeks so we thought we'd share a peek at a couple of our blocks in progress! This is going to be such a fun program and I'm really excited about the layout of the final quilt (it's so cool!).

We really hope you will join us on this year long journey celebrating the 250th anniversary of our country. We will start the first week of July and each month you will get a kit to make a portion of the quilt. Monthly stitching will include some simple cotton piecing along with some wool applique. Karen designed and stitched twelve 12" wool applique blocks featuring classic patriotic motifs and I chose and will be making the accompanying 6" pieced blocks. Fabrics will be from my Making Waves collection by Marcus Fabrics and wools will be a selection of coordinating Lanacot textures and solids. The finished quilt will be approximately 76" x 76" and monthly kits will include the pattern, all wool and cotton needed for the quilt top plus the binding.

There will also be an exclusive Facebook Group for participants where Karen and I will post helpful videos and answer questions along the way. You'll also be able to share your progress with other stitchers!

Have you heard about the free sew-a-long that will be happening this July? The pattern is called Meet Me in Philadelphia and designer My Beste Quilt Co will be leading a weekly sew-a-long for anyone that wants to participate! We put together some kits in these fun patriotic prints (from mom and I) and I had to put a block together just to see how it would turn out. This is such a neat block! It was really fun to make but I can see how a sew-a-long will be very helpful for keeping organized. You'll find information for the sew along in the Ticket To Quilt Facebook Group and you can find our kit on our website now (I'll drop a link in the comments). Enjoy!

Did you know that this August will be our 20th Anniversary? I can't believe it's been 20 years already! We've got some fun things planned to celebrate and one of them is a Pieceful Anniversary Challenge! The rules are simple. Purchase 1/2 to 1 yard of the challenge fabric (pictured below) and make something out of it. You can make anything you want, but you do have to use at least 1/2 yard of the challenge fabric in the front of your project. Then submit your project (either in person or by e-mail) by August 15th. Pieceful Staff will vote on their favorites and we will announce the winners at our big Anniversary Celebration on August 20th. There are some pretty nice prizes so you really should enter! It's ready! Order your Little House on The Prairie Quilt Kit today and you can stitch it up while you watch the show in July. Or, if you're speedy quick, maybe you can get it all put together before the show even starts! This quilt appears in the new Netflix adaptation of Little House on The Prairie which will premier on July 9. The quilt is made exclusively from Marcus Fabrics. We were able to work with Marcus and pull together some of the fabrics from the actual quilt, as well as some other prints that will appear in the costumes. Won't it be fun to look for these prints while you're watching the show? You can find kits on our website now (link in the comments) and they will ship out early next week.
