This is where your bouquet is standing right now.

This isn't a stock photo. It's a field at Winding Stair Campground where every one of our bouquets comes from.

Nobody orders these from a distributor. Someone walks into that field with clippers on Thursday morning, looks around, decides what's ready, and cuts it. Which is why no two bunches are the same.

The arrangement is really just an honest record of what was blooming best that day.

If you've never picked one up before, this is a good week to start.

There are around hundreds of native bee species in North Carolina, and most of us couldn't name one.
This Saturday, bee expert and author John Kotab will walk our fields with you and change that. Short lecture, two trips into the flowers, and if the bees cooperate, a close-up look in an observation box.

Flame Azaleas are hard to find at any retail nursery, us included. Nature only makes so many a year, and savvy customers buy them as soon as they see them available.

Quick example: We found a local source and brought in 100 Flame Azaleas a few days ago. We now have 43, total.

If you want one, come by soon. We're open Mon-Sat 9a - 5p, closed Sundays.

Every one of these pictures started as a problem.
A bank nobody wanted to mow. A shady corner where the third round of hydrangeas gave up. A front bed that looked great in the catalog and rough by August.
None of them got fixed by buying a better plant. They got fixed by an hour with someone who knows what actually grows at 2,000 feet and up.
That's Greg Mason, our nursery manager. Degree in landscape architecture, 20+ years gardening in these mountains. He comes out to your property, walks the site with you, and tells you the truth about it. Including when the answer is "don't buy that, it'll be dead by spring." We've talked plenty of people out of plenty of purchases and we sleep fine.
$250 for the hour on site.
One catch: Greg only takes three of these a month, and they go quick.
Franklin, Sylva, Highlands, Cashiers, and over in Georgia, Clayton, Dillard, Lake Burton and Rabun County.
