I don't usually post things like this, but I need to say it.
Misty Meadows is me. I plant every seed, w**d every row, cut every stem, and stock every bouquet at the farm stand myself. And I create beautiful botanical products that I hope my customers will enjoy β before and after other jobs, on days off that aren't really days off, in the hours after everything else is done for the day.
Lately, people have been taking from the farm stand without paying β and it's not just me. North Star's stand has been hit too.
I want to explain what that actually costs. It's not just the price of a bouquet... It's the time I spent starting seeds, transplanting, fertilizing, harvesting, and conditioning those stems. It's not the price of botanical bath salts...It's the weeks it took to grow those flowers, dry them, source and purchase the jar, design and print the labels, and put together something beautiful to share with you. It's the trust we built this whole system on β a farm stand honor system, because we believe people would honor it. Every time someone walks off without payment, it's not a small thing. It's a piece of the farm I don't get to grow back. Time with my family that we didn't get to spend together.
I started flower farming because I love it. I still do. But love doesn't cover the bills.
If you've visited the farmstands and paid β thank you. You have no idea what that means to a one-woman operation trying to keep a small, sustainably grown u-pick flower farm alive in this community. If you haven't β I'm asking you, honestly, to reconsider. Right your wrong. This only works if we're honest with each other.
Still here. Still growing. Just hoping the honor system gets to stay honest.
