Our own ๐‚๐š๐ง๐ฒ๐จ๐ง ๐–๐จ๐จ๐๐ฐ๐š๐ซ๐ takes the start line Friday evening at UTMB, lining up against some of the best mountain runners in the world and earning a spot on the list of ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฑ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏโ€™๐˜ด ๐˜ค๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฅ๐˜ฆ๐˜ณ๐˜ด.

With several big names already out of this yearโ€™s race, the door is open for Canyon to make some serious waves at the front of the field after finishing 13th in 2025.

Join us tomorrow evening, ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“ ๐š๐ญ ๐Ÿ” ๐๐Œ, in Franklin for a special presentation with Kelly Fosler as she shares about the incredible work of search & rescue K9s.

For those of us who spend time hiking, running, camping, hunting, or simply exploring the outdoors, search & rescue is an important part of the outdoor community. Kelly will share what search dogs do in the field, how theyโ€™re trained, and some of the missions she and her dogs have been a part of.

Sheโ€™ll also introduce us to Guardians of Carolina Police K9s, the nonprofit supporting law enforcement K9 teams and the dogs who serve alongside them.

It will be a great evening connecting our love of the outdoors with the dogs and people trained to respond when an adventure doesnโ€™t go as planned. Come learn more about these remarkable dogs, their training, and the important work they do in our communities.

Geometry has changed dramatically over the last decadeโ€”but almost all of that change has been about running efficiency. Rockers, toe springs, stack heights, transitions: all designed to move you forward more efficiently.

But thereโ€™s one area where geometry has been a problem for hikers: heel stability.

At the same time, foams have gotten softer and stacks have gotten taller. So weโ€™ve taken the least stable part of the shoe, put more and softer material underneath it, and done very little geometrically to compensate for it.

And I think heel stability is the single biggest thing weโ€™ve sacrificed in the modern running shoe.

Itโ€™s also a huge reason why some trail running shoes that were phenomenal hiking shoes ten years ago have evolved into shoes that just donโ€™t hike particularly well anymore. This is going to get interesting. Especially when hikers make up the largest consumer group of trail running shoes. Tag your favorite brand.
