The Lord’s Cupboard is a 501 (c)(3) thrift store, founded in 1971 by the Church Women United of Johnson County. The Lord's Cupboard relies solely on donations of furniture, clothes, toys and household items to generate sales; proceeds are redirected to helping the local community. The Lord's Cupboard also runs a voucher program enabling individuals in need and who have a credible referral to receive clothing and household items. When possible, The Lord's Cupboard directs funds to the county’s established social-services agencies and to victims of natural disasters and other challenging circumstances. The Lord's Cupboard welcomes volunteers, age 15 or older, to help clean, sort and organize merchandise year-round.
