Virginia Outdoor Center VOC is a recreational outfitter providing canoe, kayak, Stand Up Paddle Board, and tubing trips on the Rappahannock River.

Services we provide include:

CANOE, KAYAK, and STAND UP PADDLE BOARD RENTALS and TRIPS
- Hourly and day rentals on the Rappahannock River
- Multi-day trips on the Rappahannock/ Rapidan Rivers
*Prices:
Hourly rentals at City Dock: $20 for 1 hour, $30 or 2 hours, or $40 for the day
Day rentals for shuttled trips range between $55- 60/ canoe or $35-40/ kayak. Multi-day rentals range $110-150/ canoe or $75-90/kayak

- VOC to Old Mill Park (1 mile) $20
- Quarry to Old Mill Park (2 mile). $25

- Kayak Rolling Course
- Private Instruction/ Trips

ROCK CLIMBING
- Rock Essentials Course
- Rock Climbing Anchors Course

CAMPING for Scouts and qualifying non-profit groups
- 4 Riverside Campgrounds with fire rings, picnic tables, and access to bathroom facilities

This week, we hosted a company retreat that took more than 100 paddlers from Old Mill to Little Falls. Watching teams trade office chairs for canoes and conference calls for river views never gets old.

Are you ready for the 2026 Summer? The countdown has begun!
We at the VOC have been gearing up to start off this summer with a splash. Starting on Memorial Day Weekend (Saturday, 5/23), the VOC will be open for the Summer season. This means our tubing, City Docks Rentals, and self-guided paddling trips are bookable online at Playva.com.

Veterans Day to Labor Day without social media! We had a great summer with great water levels and enjoyed sharing them in person with great people.

We have six weeks left of paddling the Rappahannock. Join us for Hole in the Wall to Mott’s Run for the fall colors as the leaves start changing. We’ll have some guided trips at the end of September and middle of October. Keep any eye out.

A good “tuck” position protects you form the rover bottom and puts you in a good position to initiate the roll. It may seem contrary but the last thing to come out of the water is your head. Good rolling confidence sets you up for growing your paddling skillset.

This weekend is our last two rolling sessions. They are a few spots left for each day. Head to the website to register for the open pool access or a class.
