I don't know about you but I just love driving through a small town that's lined their streets with American flags. It evokes such a warm feeling of small town pride. It reminds me of simpler times. 🇺🇸

Look what just arrived at The Treasure Chest!

This is a Victorian-era Richards & Hartley "Three Panel" pattern vaseline glass compote, produced around 1880–1888.

The piece is made of vaseline glass, a type of uranium glass that emits a bright green glow when exposed to ultraviolet light.

I don't think is going to be here for too long!!!

How adorable are these?!
They're handmade, 'un~paper towels' by Panacea Farm Girl. They're eco-friendly, machine washable, they double as dishcloths, napkins, dust clothes, burp clothes... they're more absorbent then regular paper towels and they come in some very cute designs!
I think these would be perfect for camping! You just wash them out and hang 'em up to dry! Ta~Da!!!
So ditch those plain, boring and sometimes useless paper ~ paper towels and come grab some 'un~paper towels'. I absolutely love mine!
And! ~ if you come in this weekend, you'll get 25% off your very own set!

Borrowed this from a friends page because it truly hit the nail on the head.

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message or call someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages, emails and phone calls.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner... All while being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend... it’s one of the hardest things you will try and balance. If you give your time, you will sacrifice financial benefit. If you strive for financial benefit, you will have to sacrifice your time. It’s just the way it goes when your business is relying on you to survive and you’re relying on your business to provide!

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially *in recent* years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses... and hopefully more of us will stick around!

I truly love what I do but yes, I get stressed, overwhelmed, dejected and worn out. So as stressed as I am about closing up for a week I really think this get away is going to give me a much needed boost.

To all of you that continually show your support for my small business ~ Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Good morning, everyone! I hope you all are as excited about the weather as I am. Finally! Warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine!

So I just have a couple of reminders...

#1. The sign on the front door is 100% accurate... I am still not accepting any new consignment items and I am still not currently buying anything. So showing up with 'stuff' then trying to lay a guilt trip on me for not accepting your 'stuff' will not work. 😉 I am up to my eyeballs in 'stuff'. I'm trying to progress not regress.

#2. The Treasure Chest will be closed next week, June 2nd through June 7th. There is a possibility that I might make it back on Sunday, early enough to come open up, but for now I'm going to play it safe and say I'll be closed.

So, if I don't see you this weekend I will see you when I return!

I would just like to thank every one of my amazing customers, aka friends, that came in this week and/or messaged me to let me know that they hope my family and I have a wonderful weekend together and that they're also happy about my upcoming 'surprise' vacation.
Those that know me well know that closing for even just half a day doesn't set well with me. But, my better half was determined to make time for us to just take a break and he did just that.
Thank you. I'm excited for the trip and the opportunity to recharge, come back and get back to work with a fresh mind, body and soul.
I wish you all a safe and memorable 😉 Memorial Day weekend.
I'll see you next Tuesday! 🇺🇸 ❤️
