After a lot of thought, I've made the difficult decision to let go of our original Joy's Velitas candle bar unit.
When I leased the second space next door, the dream was to expand and grow. Ironically, just as the expansion was completed, business slowed dramatically. Like many small businesses, I've had to adapt to the realities of today's economy.
Rather than continue carrying the expense of two units, I've decided to consolidate and focus on what makes the most sense financially. This is not a goodbye, and Joy's Velitas is *not* closing.
✨ We will continue hosting our candle-making workshops every weekend next door inside Lumiere Sober Bar.
✨ Corporate events and private bookings are still available weekdays - just dm ahead and we'll open up time slots for you to book.
✨ Lumiere Sober Bar — which began as a pivot move during uncertain times — has grown into something I'm incredibly proud of and continues to open new doors.
This first unit holds so many memories. It's where Joy's Velitas was born, where thousands of candles were poured, birthdays celebrated, and friendships made. Letting it go is emotional, but I've come to accept that making smart adjustments is how small businesses survive.
Sometimes growth doesn't look like getting bigger. Sometimes growth means simplifying, adapting, and protecting what you've worked so hard to build.
Thank you for supporting both Joy's Velitas and Lumiere Sober Bar through every season. We're still here, still creating, and still excited for what's ahead. ❤️
Also, before I begin removing the wood flooring, lighting, and returning the space to its original condition - does anyone want it as is!??
I'd love to see if another small business can give it new life. If you or someone you know is looking for a space, send me a message. I'd be happy to discuss leasing the unit as-is.
Thank you,
Joy 🕯
