In honor of , we’re taking a trip down memory lane to celebrate a couple of truly legendary builds.
Back in 2010, we built Jimmy Buffett’s “surf shack on wheels” — a custom Summit 1 with a fiberglass top and marine-inspired porthole windows. Staying true to Jimmy’s love for the outdoors, the diesel van was even converted to run on pure vegetable oil.
He called his vans the “Green Tomato” and “White Tomato,” and we think those names are pretty fitting for two builds this legendary. Jimmy was an incredible person to work with — genuinely kind, down-to-earth, and a huge advocate for taking care of the environment.
And that wasn’t his only build with us. Jimmy also owned this 2004 Ford E-350 Sportsmobile 4x4, outfitted as an overlanding camper with a 6.0L Power Stroke diesel and full four-wheel drive.
Two iconic vans. One iconic legend. Raising one up for you today, Jimmy. 🍻
