I'm a little late to the reposting party! I am so incredibly happy for my mom and Barb announcing their retirement. I know the next chapter will be different but fulfilling for both of them.

I know that the news can also be a little hard for people to process--me included! For a lot of us, Henry's isn't just a place where business transactions happen. It is a community where people shared knowledge, brought creative ideas to life, and were able to get supplies for their own small businesses. A place where generations shopped together, worked together, and continued family traditions. A place where people felt comfortable enough to share the highs and lows of their lives with us.

I grew up in this business. I spent so much time with my mom here and am so grateful I did. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with my family here when we had late night candy making marathons. This wasn't a place where you clocked in and clocked out. The day was done when you knew there were enough chocolate bunnies for everyone's Easter basket.

Everyone who worked for my mom knows she is a stickler for always greeting the customer when they walked in the door. Letting people know you see them and that you're there for them if they need help isn't the start of the business transaction, it's how we build community. I feel so lucky to have been part of this community and was able to get to know so many wonderful people over the years! Ashleigh Henry
