As per our usual annual schedule, my art school friend, Staci Phebus of Juniper Bay Metals, will be with us for First Friday in August (8/7, 10am-5pm). Yay! It's one of my fave days of the work year! We count Swell as being super lucky to have been carrying Maruca bags for 16 years - first in the ITG days through to the present!

The company is women-owned and run from a small design studio located near Denver, Colorado where every bag is hand-cut, hand-sewn, and never mass produced. Each piece is made only with Jacquard fabrics, which means that the fabric patterns are woven using a special loom. They work in partnership with small independent U.S. fabric mills to create entirely new fabrics twice a year - no fabric pattern is ever repeated. Most of the threads are cotton, rayons and synthetics, and some threads are even made from recycled plastic bottles. As a USA-based small business, they seek to balance resourcefulness, sustainability, and creativity, and remain faithfully committed to the creation of high-quality, unique handmade products that last their customers for years to come.

If I didn’t have to work today, I would absolutely be at this workshop. If they would let me in, that is. I mean, I know I’m older than 19. 😄 But seriously, this looks like such a satisfying project. If you are a Hatteras youth between ages 12 and 19, you should think about taking this workshop. Leigh Anne is such a great teacher! ♥️
