New arrivals alert 🎸 Billy Strings’ fifth studio album, “So Much for Goodbyes,” drops August 28th, and we’ll have it in stock.
This one’s personal — Strings made the record in the wake of his mother’s sudden passing last year, turning his grief into 16 tracks produced alongside T Bone Burnett. It closes with “Debra’s Waltz,” a tribute to her. Lead single “Burn the Other End” gives you a taste of where this record’s headed: raw, heartfelt, and unmistakably him.

Things you find in a record shop…
Monkey Grip (1974) was Bill Wyman’s debut solo album, released May 10, 1974 on Rolling Stones Records — notably making him the first Rolling Stone to put out a solo record, beating Jagger and Richards to it.

Key details:

• Recorded November 1973–February 1974 at Record Plant in Sausalito, California, while Wyman was still fully active in the Stones (the band had just wrapped their European tour behind Goats Head Soup)
• Wyman produced it himself and sang lead on every track — a striking contrast to his Stones role, where he’d only sung lead once (on “In Another Land” in 1967)
• Session players included an impressive lineup: Lowell George, Dr. John, Leon Russell, Danny Kortchmar, Dallas Taylor, and guitarist Wayne Perkins (who later auditioned for the Stones’ Mick Taylor slot)
• Singles: “White Lightnin’” and “Monkey Grip Glue”

Okay we’re SO excited about this one — Helado Tropical, the new LP from Helado Negro and Reyna Tropical (Psychic Hotline). This is their first record together and honestly it’s exactly what it sounds like it should be: warm, sun-soaked, kind of dreamy Latin electronic stuff that just feels like summer.

Two artists who’ve never really cared about doing things “the expected way” got in a room together and just… made this. Tracks like “Sensación” and “Déjate Caer” are already on repeat here at the shop.

If you’re into Caribou, Toro y Moi, anything with that hazy, feel-good vibe — this one’s for you.

Named after the ancient Andean panpipe, Siku (2019, ZZK Records) is Nicola Cruz’s first full-length since Prender El Alma — cut on tour, city by city, with collaborators from across the globe. Deep house pulses meet ancestral Ecuadorian sound, pulling South American cosmology into a wider, more electronic world.
