This was such a win for me. It was simple. I was finished a week in advance. The vision came together exactly like I imagined it would. What a treat.

I used the as my starting point, but it fit so poorly, that the only the that really remains are the points at the bottom. To modify it I used my self drafted tape sloper and cut it down accordingly. (Removing about five inches from both the bust and the hips)

The skirt was made like a standard circle skirt, cut from a square with a waistband added on.

This epic self draft is really like a part three to the black tie series with the purple gown from two weeks ago. I tried so hard to make the blue dress work and in the end (with all new fabric and a new plan), I did! I changed a number of things from my initial idea like making the skirt detachable, adding more volume to the skirt of the main dress, and changing the overskirt from a pleated satin column to a gathered 1.5x circle skirt.

Thanks to all of you who told me the blue dress really wasn’t that bad because you sent me down this mad rabbit hole with three days to go before the event. 😂 Us creative types do our best work under pressure.
