Use kitchen and bath fans regularly!

Winter moisture buildup can lead to mold growth. Running your exhaust fan helps protect walls and finishes and can prevent problems in the future.

✅ Make sure bathroom fans turn on easily and actually pull air (you should feel suction or see the vent flap open outside)

✅ Run fans during showers or cooking and let them run for 15-20 minutes after to fully remove the moisture.

✅ Clean dust and buildup from fan covers so airflow isn’t restricted and moisture can escape properly.

Trim overhanging branches!

Snow and ice can weigh branches down and damage roofs, siding or vehicles below. A quick trim can prevent some surprises later!

✅ From the ground, scan your roofline for any dips or uneven spots that may indicate excess weight.

✅ Look for thick snow or ice buildup along the edges of your roof. This is often where ice dams start!

Insulate exposed pipes in crawl spaces and garages to prevent freezing and bursting in cold snaps!

✅ Check for exposed pipes in the garage, crawl spaces and exterior walls.

✅ Check insulation covers for gaps, damage, or missing sections.

✅ Check that cold air isn’t blowing directly onto pipes through vents or cracks.

Have you checked to make sure your garden hoses have been disconnected?

Leaving garden hoses attached during winter can trap water inside the spigot. When water freezes it can cause pipes to burst inside your walls, leading to costly repairs!

✅ Disconnect hoses

✅ Drain and store them

✅ Shut off and drain exterior faucets if possible
