Next Sunday, join us at the Repurpose Project for a neighborhood trash pickup! We would love to have some hands on deck to help us keep our neck of the woods litter-free, so pack your water and close-toed shoes (and sunscreen!) and pop over at 9:30. High vis vests and grabbers will be provided!

We will also be having our monthly Book Swap on Saturday, June 27th, and July’s Clothing Swap happens to fall on July 4th so if you’ve got family in town bring them by and grab some (free!) clothes!

We’re located at 1920 NE 23rd Ave, Gainesville FL. The store is open 10am-6pm, and donations are accepted from 10-2!

Let’s talk compost! 🍃🍌🧅

If you’ve spent any time in the community garden here at the Repurpose Project, you might have noticed the bin labeled compost.

Some guidelines for composting in our compost bin:
✅ Plant/fruit/vegetable scraps are good!
✅ General food waste (leftover french fries, pasta, bread. Please note that any dairy must be covered with leaves!
✅ Coffee ground, tea leaves, staple-less tea bags

🚫 Meat/fish/bones cannot go in this bin!
🚫 Pet waste or cat litter
🚫 Trash (so no textiles, metal, plastic, toilet paper, rocks, etc.)

Here at the Repurpose Project, it is our mission to keep as much material in the circular economy as possible, including organic waste— composting is a fantastic way to close the loop! So this post also serves as your reminder that we accept donations of plants and garden supplies as well— even plants that are not in a healthy state, since we will either nurse them to health or contribute them to our compost bin!

It lines up perfectly with our mission, specifically the material we house at Renovator Reuse. Having the skills to do your own repairs can save people a lot of money and make homes last, double win!

On Saturday June 27th we’ll be hosting our monthly Book Swap! This is a free event for all ages— we’ll have a table for kids books, as well as fiction, non-fiction, art books, and more. It will run from 11am-2pm at the Repurpose Project Community Center, located at 1920 NE 23rd Ave, Gainesville FL!

Due to space limitations we aren’t able to accept donations of books in advance, but on the day of the event, please feel free to bring as many books in as you’d like to let go of, and take as many books home as you want! Take books for your family, for your classroom, for your neighbors, or your nearby little free library! If you would like to leave us a cash donation to help us maintain our Community Center and expand our events programming, any support is very much appreciated. See you there!
