⏮️ FLASHBACK FRIDAY
Before he was Sting, he was Gordon Sumner. A schoolteacher from Wallsend, England, who earned his famous nickname after a fellow musician said his yellow-and-black sweater made him look like a bee. 🐝 Then came The Police.
With hits like “Roxanne,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” and “Every Breath You Take,” The Police became one of the biggest bands of the era before Sting launched his solo career following ‘Synchronicity’ in 1983.
His first solo album, ‘The Dream of the Blue Turtles,’ proved he had plenty left to say on his own, kicking off a three-decade solo career filled with hit albums, collaborations, and soundtracks.
From schoolteacher to Police frontman to solo star, and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, today we celebrate 75 years of Sting. 🎂
