Last year, 2025, I ordered Proven Winner blackberries in at the shop. I sold a few and planted the rest at the shop. I wasn’t sure how they would do the second year, but I am thrilled with the results. They are thornless, and are producing delicious thumb size berries. I have done 3 pickings so far, with more berries coming on. Each picking gives me enough fruit to make a large cobbler. The plants so far have been easy to maintain. If a blackberry patch is on your horizon, I would recommend this variety.

A bouquet of flowers in a vase always makes me smile, but when that bouquet is given to you from someone else’s garden, it warms your heart. Thank you to the couple driving by my home and saw me working in my front garden and handed me this joyful bouquet. You made my day.

My 28th season of peddling petals is in the books. I am often asked if I had a good year. At my age, I no longer think about sale figures and profit margins when asked that question. Instead, this year I thought of all my customers watching the baby robins who nested in a flat of salvia. Taking pictures of them as if they were looking through the nursery windows at the latest family member. I watched a little girl being pulled in one of our wagons by her mother, surrounded by plants and eating the basil leaves her mother intended to buy. I treasured seeing old and new friends again. I especially cherished the sound of laughter radiating through out the shop from the dear ladies that always have my back. I would say I had the best season ever, again!

Please share this sale update. Hibiscus trees and shrubs often times go through a cycle where their leaves turn yellow and fall off. Especially when they are in the pots they were shipped in. As long as you can see new growth, they should be fine. After they are planted they will take off and amaze you. The pictures below show how beautiful they will become. I counted seven blooms on this one. Keep this in mind when you are shopping this Saturday at our end of season sale. I’m sure you will find some hidden treasures.

Please share this post! Our end of season sale starts Saturday, June 27th at 9:00 am. All plants will be 50% off and non plant items 20% off. David has done a phenomenal job fertilizing and keeping our plants healthy. Even when we mark our plants down, we want our customers to get quality plants.
