Good morning wish we had more rain in Panama they call these rains “cat whiskers “ that’s how fine it is . We finally have a new stock of bird baths , variety of other statues and of course the original porch geese .
I also want to remind everyone who signed up for pond seminar it is this coming Saturday 10 to twelve including lunch and hands on planting and separating pond plants. Once again wear comfortable work clothes it’s a “dirty job”! Have space for a few more so if you have a friend who might be interested let them know . The night blooming lilies are at their best . Went out at 12:00 midnight to check fish and met 2 c***s checking out the covered fish tanks and water lily tanks they are so cute but oh so bad, have to set the traps again . There are several insects and mammals I wish God had not put 2 on the arc battling Mother Nature is a losing battle somewhat like a gambling house they never lose ! Hope to see you Saturday the 19th God Bless You Sue D

It’s been awhile but I’m still in July 1 not August first where does time go ? Well I think I know where mine goes bum up knees NOT bent as they should and endless vines and weeds that I think is my sole responsibility to get rid of. They have a way of getting even pull one 3 pop up ! As for business I have a few Autumn clematis left that are budded and going to be beautiful in a week or 2 you will want them when you see them blooming in someone’s yard , they are not the wild ones that take over a community. As for my favorite time of year hot, humid , can’t breath weather a water garden is the perfect solution. They can be very expensive or inexpensive it’s your choice on which way to go. A simple reflecting pool with lilies and a few marginals mosquito fish if you don’t want to deal with gold fish or koi and if you must a simple pump filter and fountain head. Stop buy and see what is new in the water garden “garden”. Statuary is a great staple for the garden and new shipment will be here end of this month or middle of September . I’ve never had coneflowers like this year through all this heat they have kept their color and constant bloom I guess some like it hot and humid and others like myself cool and little humidity. I forgot to mention we have a new water lily in the hardy division a true purple it is stunning am sold out of the strangest lily I ever had it changes color daily and has different colors on same plant can’t wait for next year to have more. Hope to see you cooler weather will come !!God Bless you and keep you safe Sue D

Well I guess we are finally getting our hot humid June my very least favorite weather . Work outside early morning, nap at 1 get back out 6-7 . That would be my ideal but alas I have my jug of water my Cobra head digger and into my jungle I go🙀 I did get a shipment of something I wasn’t able to get since covid ,the cast iron baskets, price of course went up but not that much and quality stayed the same that’s a miracle in itself. Have some beautiful zinnias and hardy ferns and autumn clematis I suggest you get the clematis now it normally sells fast and when it’s blooming every one wants it and by that time I’m sold out. Have 4 different colors of echinacea orange, burgundy, hot red and yellow. Just planted them will be ready in 2 weeks good looking plants will probably bloom about middle of July . Have quite a few dwarf abelia in 3 gal containers great looking shrubs and very fragrant flowers when in bloom normally bloom end July early August . Koi , fancy fans are doing great and new water lilies are finally growing same with lotus the weather I dislike is their favorite weather . Must go out and plant some more hope to see you Sue D

Good morning to all my fellow gardeners. I feel like the Phoenix rising from the ashes. I had a complete hip replacement 4 weeks ago and now I’m 20 years younger ! It’s truly amazing no pain and can do just about everything . We are in full swing with the water garden department . Water lilies, marginals , floaters , fish , liner , pumps , filters and knowledge to help you to be successful with your pond. We are back at our original location and are combining our event center and nursery together. We are always a work in progress so changes are a comin . Main changes are going to be evening events in the Gardens , bakery in retail shop all catered by Beet Thyme in Bentonville . Bakery is going to be European all made with fresh milled Einkorn and other ancient grains . Nothing previously processed. Perennials and very specific shrubs and herbs will still be available but in smaller quantities. I expect middle of June we will have our first Evening in the Garden event will post more information soon . Thank you Sue D

This is a reminder NOW is the time to start planting trees , shrubs , perennials, etc ( no pun intended ) cooler weather insures root growth . I have people all the time coming in May for rhubarb, asparagus and berries then wonder why they don’t grow well for them NOW is the time. We normally have rain at this time of year of course we never know but in this part of country spring is better than fall because of our rain chances. Been gardening in Arkansas for over 48 years and pretty well know what does and what doesn’t do well here. Fortunately I don’t have a deer problem you would think the nursery would be their buffet but not a one has bothered to visit and it’s not that I don’t have them counted 17 in my back fields probably gorging themselves on the numerous Pawpas I have in woods because I never get a one😠 . Have some really nice dogwoods white 5-6 foot well branched some blooming for 69.95 Plant now
Many other perennials are starting to look good again after that freeze last week. Hope you can come out Easter week Nunns orchids should be in full bloom . It’s quite a site .

Well as usual winter to summer no spring . I guess you all know me well enough to know my feelings on that DONT like it!!
We are now fully stocked with berries strawberries blueberries blackberries raspberries and currents . Asparagus and rhubarb roots . Save money buy them bare root . It will be at the old place until I move refrigeration down. Also beautiful delphinium fox glove a bit early but they are so beautiful blooming and I believe unless hot wind kicks up should still be nice for Easter . Candytuft , monarda both blue and purple , clematis and peonies expecting tree peonies beginning of April. Will let you know when water plants will be ready far behind on that because of weather we raise so many on our property . Have a nice weekend and try to stay cool ugh on the weather! Ps the Nunns Orchids are going to bust out in bloom any day they are truly a wonder stop by next 2 weeks to see them.
