As I took over The Treasure Chest a few years ago, James 1:27 was the mantra for the store; it is truly our duty as humans to leave this world a better place than we found it and to help those in need when the opportunity presents itself. I have seen the Lord work in amazing ways and saw many miracles happen here. TTC was more than an ordinary store; it was a hub for people to find information of all kinds. Tourists found reprieve on an inclimate day, it was a place where neighbors came to cultivated friendships at the well-known table with green chairs, a place for those going through hard times to find compassion as well as “stuff” to meet basic human needs.
For all of the people who have served as volunteers during these past few years, I cannot find words that can truly grasp the depths of my gratitude for each of you. This community has been very blessed to have some very extraordinary individuals who have so selflessly given of their time to serve this community well. You are the true treasures with hearts of gold.
A few people who I’d like to personally extend an extra note of gratitude to are Kris Frerk for all the PR you do for Garretson and how you can run circles around people to get tasks done! You are quite a miracle worker in all that you do for this community and all the ways you promote Garretson with so much pride! Art Nordstrom, I cannot thank you enough for all the various ways you have supported our mission and have helped us with various tasks! And to the Garbage-N-More company & crew, thank you so much for all the ways you have been so generous, not only TTC, but the many events you’ve donated time and resources for the community!
I’d also like to take a moment to thank my son, Tyler, for all the hours he put into creating the rock wall for King and Queen Treats! It was quite an artistic feat that awed many who entered. Tyler took on KQT as part of his senior project and learned quite a bit about customer service, financial literacy, LOTS of problem-solving skills, and real hands-on entrepreneurial experience. To all who supported his shop and rooted him on, I thank you sincerely! It takes a village… 😊
And last, but certainly not least, to all of you who were so kind in patronizing our shop, donating to our mission, and sharing with others about us, we could not have served in the capacity that we did without you! So we say “thank you” in simple words, but with sincere and profound gratitude. Even if TTC is no longer open, your hearts can be and you can continue our mission from wherever you are and with the resources you have. God bless! 💖
