With 9/11 upon us in a couple of days I thought I would post some photos of the books I collected on the attack and the fall out. This event changed the course of history and I wanted a collection to look back on and remember.

From the Illustrated London News of 1868 this wood block engraving of a ship in Antarctic waters prior to its golden age of exploration which started in around 1900. The accompanying text is an interesting read and suggests there is an Antarctic shore line as the icebergs are so tall and float towards the equator at all times of the year.

F***y Palmer painted for Currier and Ives in the 1860’s. I like all her views of the Hudson River but particularly this one as you can see our shop on Garrisons Landing, the other side of the river from Flirtation Walk on the West Point campus.

A customer wants to look at our holdings of Chinese pith paintings. Here are two, of many hundreds, that we have. Pith is a translucent, organic medium used instead of paper as the surface to paint on. They were painted by Chinese artists for the Western traders who wanted local keepsakes to take home to their family and friends. I am very partial to them and have a large collection dealing with tea, production, trading and consumption.
I will put some of them up soon.
