In a world as changing and diverse as today's society, one constant remains. No matter who you are, family or friend, how many family members there may be or what distance you may be from loved ones, caring and diligence should always be front and center when it comes to your loved one's needs. I've seen so many facets of family life, how they come together and even sometimes come apart when a family member becomes isolated, sickness sets in or even impending death. I've seen families in my business and in my Hospice work drop all they do, take charge after working long hours just being that advocate so badly needed in today's medical arena where nurses are so short staffed and medical facilities struggle to keep up with the workload. I tell so many people there is no manual to refer to when it comes to caring for our seniors and our loved ones. It can change day to day, even hour to hour. Always remember if you are that caregiver, be kind to yourself. Get rest, eat healthy, find help, take a "mental health" day and know you are taking on a task that few are prepared to handle. Because in the end when you do what is right and needed, you will always know that you did exactly the right thing for your loved one or family member at their most critical time of need.
