“Lions symbolize a lot of things, among them are strength, boldness, and courage. There's a scripture that says "the righteous are as bold as a lion". Good people doing good things that are right to each other should have courage and be strengthened in their actions, even though sometimes it seems those that do evil tend to win. We aren't to fret over evil doers and evil things, and this painting of lions resting kind of symbolizes that to me.
A lot is on my mind today. Prayers for our nation and the turmoil in the world are at the top of the list. It is sickening to see humans kill each other, no matter what. I believe we are here to make this earth better. It takes courage to stand out for what is right in our heart even when it goes against the grain. Praying for my country and the people in it to love our neighbor more.” - Abraham Hunter

Winter Eagles - Abraham Hunter

"Last year in the late fall and winter I had a healthy burst of painting and productivity. I started several works at a time that became my winter projects and this was one of them. These eagles are catching the warm light of a golden hour in mid winter and cool colors of the surrounding landscape contrast and complement them. Soft pastel pinks lavenders and blues are one of my favorite color combos because they remind me of that peaceful time of day when the sun has just disappeared or not yet appeared. A tiny bit of yellow to balance the purples and a tiny bit of green to balance the pink, with blue and orange being the stars of the show seemed to work with this one. Playing around with color theory has helped me do brightly colored works without losing the confidence in the painting looking harmonious and pleasing." -Abraham Hunter
