I don't have an exact date on this picture but I believe it to be around 1910 based on other pictures I've seen of Glen Ferris. This should be the Wilson Aluminum Company just before Union Carbide took it over. Questions I have about this picture, in the background you can see what look like piers of a bridge but they don't match up to the RR bridge and this is long before the Rt 60 bridge was even thought about, also the Ai is not detecting houses that should be in the background either. Not perfect but a great shot at how different things looked in the past. Always enjoy your thoughts and theories and corrections

This Tuesday September 8th I'm going to do a float trip down the Gauley. Rentals will be available as well shuttle service but you must reserve by Monday. We'll meet at 10:30 at The Gauley Outpost and expect a 6 hour+ trip.

Now this picture .... well, its a mess, the quality is so poor from the beginning that Ai really can't digest it and bring it to focus. The second problem is you can't tell the direction of the river, I believe we are looking from river left looking upriver with the island being on the left top of the picture. The label on this was 1920 concrete dam construction at Kanawha Falls
