Megan spent years navigating the high-stakes world of international corporate sales.

The job gave her the opportunity to travel the globe, discovering unique, hard-to-find treats along the way. 🍬✈️

But eventually, the constant travel lost its luster. 🙅‍♀️

She traded the corporate life for a short commute down the road, choosing to pour her passion into a welcoming space for the local community! ❤️🏪

Today, Megan and Tom curate an inventory that reflects that global journey!

They bring unusual international candies and allergen-safe treats to the coast. 🍫🌾

They even have a dedicated kids’ section where local children can spend their coins. 🪙👧

As one little customer put it, “This is the best store ever!” 🎉🥳

🕰️ Did you know that the building housing Ziggy's Sweets and Treats has its own rich piece of local history?

Welcome back to Connected Coast, where we unearth the deep roots and untold stories of the Oregon North Coast.
Before Megan and Tom Atkins opened the doors to their whimsical candy shop, 95 S. Cottage Avenue wore a few different hats. It originally served the community as an apothecary.

Step inside the coffee area today, and you’re standing where the old town pharmacy used to be, a place once filled with old-world remedies, gift items, and a modest, carefully selected collection of licorice. When the previous owners retired, they left Megan and Tom with one major rule: “You have to keep doing licorice.” 🍬🤫

And keep it they did. Megan and Tom honored that piece of Gearhart history by building an entire, magnificent wall dedicated entirely to different styles of licorice alongside an incredible collection of colorful gummies and sours. They knew that honoring the town's legacy was essential. Gearhart is deeply historic, and families deserve a welcoming, warm place to gather and share cross-generational moments.
