⚡️🌞⚡️ Martin 000-18 ⚡️🌞⚡️
More Martin love in the shop with a lowering of super high action at the saddle and nut. After a good spa and bath, this one received .011 - .052 bell brass Ernie Ball strings. Sounds great and plays much better after slamming the action down to a reasonable height

It’s been Martin Mania around the shop lately. Along with a clean up, this one received a substantial lowering of the action at the saddle and nut.

Also, it was upgraded with a set of Waverly bridge pins made of Galalith (used during the prewar era golden era). This is not an expensive upgrade and I can’t recommend it enough. The bridge holes may need to be slightly reamed to accommodate the slightly larger size, or the pins themselves can be sanded if need be. You’ll need the 5 degree pins for most Martins …

It now sounds like a grand piano and plays like butter with .013 D’Addario Phosphor Bronze strings

🌞 It’s Dobro Time! 🌞
1996 DM33S round neck Dobro gets a rush filing of the fret ends, truss rod adjustment, board hydration, new strings and an intonation adjustment

The last of the OMI Huntington Beach, California builds after the Gibson buyout

Chromed brass body, biscuit cone, maple round back neck in the rare Seagulls and Sailboat motif

I had helped procure it years ago and now it’s a thoughtful gift to me from a loved one. And, while I don’t name all of my instruments, I’ve named this one, “Barbara Jean”

It was rushed to the bench so that I could play it all weekend 😜

👊“pre-factory” PRS Custom 24
The last of the sweet switch and Brazilian rosewood fingerboards. Beautifully understated figured top and moon inlays. Very little fading of the finish (if any). Nice patina on the plastic. Regular pattern neck with small neck heel, rotary tone pot, first era HFS and Vintage humbucker. Bridge is floating and works flawlessly. Near mint with original hard shell case. You won’t find a better playing, performing or sounding one PRS

Tweaked the treble bleed with a new cap and resistor (original in case) for a big improvement that keeps the lows intact when rolling off the volume pot

Comes with a spare control cover that’s signed by Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom

⚡️Friday Trippin’⚡️

1959-1963 era Silvertone Model 1423 Jupiter / Black Faux Sparkle (AKA: Harmony Stratotone) :

Goal:
As a family heirloom with no plans for extensive play, the goal was to stay within a budget and make it playable without going into a re-fret and cutting a new nut.

Work Done:
• Reattach separated fretboard binding on both sides at the nut - first fret
• Back fill extremely low nut with shavings and CA glue and file to spec
• Slightly soften edges of nut angles
• Spot level crucial high frets / no crowning
• Clean all frets
• Lightly clean the hardware and finish
• Set truss rod relief, intonate the floating bridge and set bridge action
• Adjust pickup heights to compensate for current bridge setup
• Clean and hydrate fingerboard
• Tighten all hardware (tuners were somewhat loose)
• Clean jack and pots. Pull the
switch to clean and fix solder joints
• Lubricate seizing tuner gears
• Restring with shop strings

*if any setup work needs to be tweaked after pickup, contact us and get it back to us within 3 weeks for a free adjustment to your preference.

🌞Goldtop Thursday🌞
This one received a full fret level, and some nut slot back filling, along with a good setup, shower and shave

Oddest thing: a small backwards ramp of the fretboard from the first fret back towards the nut. Never seen it before, and I hope to never see it again 😜

This guitar has sentimental meaning within the owner’s family, which is always a pleasure to be a part of

Hot off of the bench is a customer’s brand new 60’s style Epi ES335
Received: Truss rod rehab / nut slot attention / saddle reorientation for intonation and depth filing and a full setup … plays great, and frets needed no help other than a quick shine
