When children read banned or challenged books, they not only learn about the importance of protecting arts but also learn to fuel their own knowledge.

Books are meant to be read, not banned. Join us in celebrating freedom of expression!

Banned Book Week-Book Spotlight: Sold by Patrica McCormick is Currently #1 on the American Library Association’s list of most challenged books.

The novel follows Lakshmi, a 13-year-old girl living in Nepal who is sold into sexual slavery in India. Told through short, lyrical vignettes, the story explores poverty, exploitation, resilience, and survival.

Sold gives a voice to experiences that are often overlooked and has been the center of controversy.
