A recent trip to Fairport gave me the chance to pop into Red Bird Market. I went hoping to find some nice local foods and wasn't disappointed. The selection included many familiar brands as well as lots of new surprises. I bought a few snacks and drinks to bring to my mom's house. I also picked up some Guglielmo Sauce and OSHi GHEE for home. The atmosphere at Red Bird was casual and fun. The staff was warm and friendly. Warning: If you are related to me stop reading because I'm thinking of making you a local foods basket for Christmas. If you are not related to me consider going to Red Bird to pick up the pantry staples you didn't know you need. The best part is that by supporting this business we support all the local makers and food manufacturers whose products are sold there. Win. Win. Win again.

Check out a few of our recent framing projects including some fun and colorful prints, a couple of massive textured canvases, Finger Lakes Finest awards for The Deluxe Grill and Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union, maps of Lodi and Yates County, a group of four vintage bird prints, a handful of original pieces, and an enlarged antique postcard of Kashing Point. Earlier this week Beth and Alison traveled to our hometown of Ontario, NY for a book buying excursion. Along the way we caught glimpses of Lake Ontario through the acres of orchards that make Wayne County famous. We love the Finger Lakes, but it was meaningful revisit our Great Lake to the north.

The trip led to the purchase of about two thousand books from a private library. About 70% of the collection is related to American History (Colonial, Revolutionary War, Slavery/Civil War, Presidential, Biography, and New York State), but there are also novels, cookbooks, books on trains, religious books, beautiful multi-volume sets and plenty of other interesting things.

It will take a few months to get all the books cleaned, priced, and ready for the Stomping Grounds sales floor, but the first few dozen will trickle out to our shelves within the next couple of days. Pictured are a few pretties from the first of many, many boxes. More to come!

We framed up some new Finger Lakes Times awards! We won Best Bookstore in the Finger Lakes for the 7th year in a row, and we were a finalist for Best Gift Shop. The wall of certificates is getting full! Thanks for the votes! 🏆🎉❤️
