Campbell's Scottish Terriers

Campbell's Scottish Terriers Offering an Amazing Selection of Scottie and Westie Collectibles. What a fun journey it has been with all of our Scotties through the years!

Who knew, in 1965 when we decided to purchase a Scottie puppy (named Robbie) that it would lead us to the collectibles business 30 some years later? Corder was in Medical School at UW and I was teaching French at Denny Junior High School in West Seattle, when we decided we needed a dog. We were too poor to purchase the AKC breed book, so we would go to the University Book Store every night and loo

k at Terriers. In August we were in Idaho visiting our families and told my Dad that we had decided we wanted a Scottish Terrier. He looked at the Idaho Statesman on Sunday and mentioned that a lady had some Scottie puppies. We called her, got directions and went to look at puppies. We came home with Rob. Our families thought we were crazy to pay $75 for a puppy and couldn't understand how we afforded it. We didn't eat for a month? (Corder says we have since made up for it!)

We collected Scottie antiques everywhere we lived -- Seattle, Oakland, Japan, Charleston, Virginia, and Delaware. We thought we had a large collection until we went to our first Wee Scots convention! I was doing a lot of sewing and making doll clothes and would attend wholesale shows looking for doll accessories and see a lot of cute Scottie collectibles that no one was selling. So I purchased some items, advertised them in the Scottie Sampler and have never looked back. Corder does all the photography and the computer work on advertising. We are on our third computer and second scanner and printer. He also says he is the "Chief Box Procurement Officer" as he recycles the shipping boxes from the clinic. It was our little Robbie who brought us to all of this. Our Scotties have given us so much and led our lives down paths we never could have imagined in 1965.

Guess who’s back? Before our Farewell Weekend event, Scottie the Bruce has popped-up at Buchanan Galleries!

This glorious Scottie is sponsored by Cairnhill and designed by Maureen King.

Maureen tells us more about her creation:

“I'm self taught but have literally been doodling and painting all my life. Most of my work is in watercolour and gouache, I find them easy to work with and I don't have to wait days for layers to dry , which is handy when my time is limited.

“I'm inspired by illustration especially kids books, I love John Bauer, and Jackie Morris, but my own work is very different usually with full-on colours. But I do love to explore all the little details which can make all the difference to a painting .

“For the Scotties in the City art trail for Maggie's Centres, I wanted to create a character who is well known, with strong Scottish ties. Scottie the Bruce was inspired by my love of colour, but I still wanted to keep him recognisable as a Scottie as the shape is so iconic, and a pleasure to paint - except under his head! I lost count of how many times I dunted my head on his jowls!”

See Scottie the Bruce for a limited time only at Buchanan Galleries before he’s moved to Bridgeton Bus Garage for our Farwell Weekend on 29-30 August. Tickets are on sale here: https://brnw.ch/21x55nn
