The Hidden Costs of DIY Flooring
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking on a flooring project yourself. Many homeowners enjoy the challenge and the savings that can come with doing their own work.
We simply want consumers to be aware of some of the less obvious costs before getting started:
• Purchasing or renting the proper tools
• Extra material for mistakes and difficult cuts
• Unexpected subfloor preparation
• Time away from work, family, and other responsibilities
• Physical strain on your knees, back, and body
• Possible warranty issues if installation requirements aren’t followed
DIY flooring can certainly be done successfully. The important thing is knowing the full scope of the project so you can decide whether doing it yourself, or hiring a professional, is the right choice for you.
And yes…sometimes the knees pay part of the bill! 😅 Ouch!
