Since this comment was deleted before I could respond, I’m going to clear this up here. The idea that The Clothesline suddenly “turned western” because another business moved in next door is simply not true.
The Clothesline has carried turquoise and western jewelry since I opened in 2018. Some of you may even remember our old “Turquoise Tuesdays” on Facebook Live. Western graphic tees and pieces with a little western influence have also been part of our store for years.
Our style has never been strictly western, and it still isn’t. It has always been a mix of trends we love, everyday pieces, casual styles, denim, graphics, and yes, a little western flair here and there.
That western influence also isn’t something that came out of nowhere. I was born and raised in Wyoming, my dad has worked on the same ranch my entire life, and I’ve ridden horses since I could walk. Those roots have always been part of who I am, so naturally they show up in my store & my style.
I also want to make something clear regarding 1935 Refined Western. The owners are like family to me. Tammy is one of my best friends and even comes to my store to help merchandise displays from time to time. We support each other, and anyone who shops both stores knows our version of western and our product selections are very different.
There is plenty of room in this community for locally owned businesses to grow, evolve, and succeed without this kind of behavior.
I’m proud of what we’ve built over the last eight years, and if you’ve been with us for any length of time, you already know our history speaks for itself. 🤠 🧡
