This hand-carved cabinet is one of those pieces that proves storage doesn’t have to be boring. We love the aged artisan finish, warm wood top, and that incredible carved sunburst detail.

September 11 🇺🇸

There are days that divide time into before and after.

September 11 is one of those days.

For so many families, today holds a past filled with someone deeply loved and deeply missed. For our country, it holds memories of unimaginable loss, extraordinary courage, and a moment when strangers became neighbors and Americans stood together.

At Fonder, our name speaks to becoming more loving and affectionate—to looking at something with greater fondness as time passes.

And perhaps that is part of what remembrance asks of us.

The past reminds us of the lives that were lived, the sacrifices that were made, and the stories we must continue to tell.

The present reminds us not to take an ordinary day for granted—to hug our people, say the words, make the call, show kindness, and be grateful for the freedom to simply be together.

The future is our responsibility: to carry forward the courage, compassion, service and unity that emerged from one of our country’s darkest days.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor their families, the survivors, first responders, service members, and all whose lives were forever changed.

May time never make us forget.

May it make us fonder of what matters most.

Today, in their memory, reach toward your community. Check on a neighbor. Thank a first responder. Help someone who needs it. Sit with someone who may be carrying a memory a little heavier today. Even the smallest act of kindness can remind us that we still belong to one another.

Remember the past. Be present with one another. Build a future with a little more kindness, compassion, and unity.

FONDER: becoming more loving, more deeply attached and more treasured with time…

This painting took François Lepage nearly four years to complete—and he finished it around the same year he married Julie Blum.

Its paired white doves, butterflies and blooming flowers are traditional symbols of love and devotion. Even more beautifully, it remained in his family for nearly 200 years.

It wasn’t simply art for a wall. It became part of their family’s love story.

May your marriage—and the home you create together—grow more beautiful with every passing year.

Meet the Artist: Juan Baldor

Award-Winning Local Artist • Acrylic Painter • Gilmer, Texas

Born in Havana, Cuba, Juan Baldor is an award-winning, self-taught acrylic artist who began painting in 2001. While he enjoys the challenge of capturing a wide variety of subjects, his greatest passion has always been animals, bringing each one to life with remarkable detail, personality, and emotion.

After a distinguished 40-year career as an educator, Juan and his wife, Beth, a native of Big Sandy, Texas, chose to make Gilmer their home in 2016. Together they have become an important part of East Texas’ artistic community, sharing both their talents and their hearts through art.

Juan and Beth have collaborated on numerous projects over the years, including an impressive 8-foot by 20-foot mural of Noah’s Ark completed in 2018 for the children’s wing at Rosewood Baptist Church in Gilmer. More recently, in 2025, they created a beautiful collection of paintings depicting key moments in the life of Christ for New Hope Baptist Church in Big Sandy, Texas.

Art has become more than a creative outlet for the Baldors—it has become a ministry. One hundred percent of the proceeds from their faith-based artwork is donated to children’s ministries around the world, including:

* Siloe Baptist Church – Honduras
* One Way Community Ministry – Guatemala
* Para Perie Ministry – Peru

Juan’s artistic excellence has also been recognized throughout the community. He earned Best of Show at the 2025 Yamboree Art Show and has proudly participated in the annual exhibition since moving to Gilmer in 2016.

At Fonder Living Home Decor, we are honored to feature Juan Baldor’s original artwork. Whether you’re drawn to his expressive wildlife, heartfelt faith-inspired pieces, or beautifully composed landscapes, each painting tells a story and reflects a lifetime of passion, perseverance, and purpose.
